Is anyone going to stop the Spurs?

I mean, is any of the off-season changes made by the Rockets, Mavericks, Pacers, Pistons, Nuggets, Suns, etc, even going to matter?

The Spurs were loaded with talent last year, and I expect them to be even better this season. With the additions of Michael Finley, Nick Van Excel, plus rookies, and the development of young players Tony Parker, Manu Flopobili, Beno Udrih, this team appears to be plenty ready for another title run. And if anyone can get the players to play well together, its Greg Pop.

    Does anyone else agree?

only team that will stop the spurs is the spurs. (or lengthy injuries to TD, parker, or manu).

In viewing the other teams, it doesn't appear that the Spurs will be able to lose. But maybe Finley was a cancer sent to the FA to go to the Spurs and kill the flow of that team. Don't know. Ironically, I'm looking at other teams and don't see the Spurs having an easy go this season. The Rockets do look a bit better and Yao is already hard enough to stick. The Suns look alright but since they loss their 3-point muscle, it'll be hard to see how well they get it going. Denver ain't going do nothing. Memphis ain't going do nothing. Seattle ain't going to do nothing. L.A. might do something ironically. There's a guy on these boards that has my quote up. Hey, they're looking pretty good. More solid than a lot of people expected honestly. And the Sac Kings are looking pretty nice. Bonzi was a great addition. No other teams popping out at me like that. Season can't start soon enough....

I just want to note Dallas actually didn't make any moves this offseason. Surprising, but true.

And SA is on the fast track to the finals. I dont think they win though, but they are clearly the best team and only got better this offseason.

          Actually, they did.

Erick Strickland, DeSagana Diop, and Doug Christie.

Plus the players they lost, Henderson, Finley, etc, are still considered off-season roster changes.

Finley to my recollection, has never been perceived as a malcontent or cancer.

Erick Strickland? He wont make the 15-man roster. I think the term is called 'Camp Invites'.

Diop just replaces Bradley who retired. Christie did the same for Finey, after Finley was cut due to salary cap reasons.

I guess when I read your post, i thought offseason moves meant major changes. Bringing in other players to upgrade your team and whatnot. I dont think Dallas did that. Mainly trading or bringing in someone who will make a huge impact.

I dont think he was a cancer by any stretch, but he wasn't the team guy everyone percieved he was.

If Horry doesn't get injured, I dont see anyone beating them in a series. Of course Duncan has to play like Duncan, but with Van Exel coming in for Parker. Imagine when they play with Van Exel, Finley, Horry, and Barry with Duncan. Heck put Bowen in there instead of Finley and it will be a trey shooting clinic. They should create an entire playset where Duncan gets the ball in the post and just blindly passes it to someone around the arc.

...and finley shot 40% from 3 last year.

their 2nd team-Rasho, Horry, Finley, Barry, Van Exel, Udrih, and Oberto-could probably win 45 games in the east.

with all this apparent greatness, i know i'll get bored of watching them after 5-10 games. i don't know what it is, but i can't watch the spurs. even the pistons, both teams play how it was meant to be played. but dam, other dynasties in recent memory: 90's bulls, 2000 lakers, even the mid 90s rockets (although maybe not a dynasty) that was must watch tv. the nba might have a serious problem on their hands, because ratings are down, numbers don't lie.

                          who cares?

i guess the NBA should help the Lakers and Knicks, since that would increase ratings???

LeBron will be playing deep into the playoffs soon enough, and that will help the ratings.

lol. calm down. who ever asked the nba to help anybody. i was simply saying that the spurs/pistons for all their wealth of talent are boring and the ratings reflected that last season.

They should be the favorites, but they are not invinceable. It will be a tall order though. I think you guys know who I think can overcome them
