That is a troubling article to say the least. His stepdad seems to be shady as hell and his mother only seems to care about the money. I hope this kid has a good head his shoulders otherwise he will be on his way to a rude awakening.

I agree. That article made them seem like its all about the money. Not a very positive way for a kid to be growing up. Hopefully, that talent won't be directed in the wrong way.

I don't look at it like that. They see that everyone else is going to try and make money off of him, so they're just making sure that whatver someone tries to get off of him, the family gets a piece as well. It may look lke they're just after the money, but I think he knows what he is doing. The shoe giveaway was good, so I think he can tell when others are trying to take advantage of him. All the dad wanted was the rim, and the AD wanted autographed ball so he could sell them.

I am in favor, though, of someone outside the family handling his finances. I've never been a fan of parents handling all of a players finances.

With all the attention he's getting he's gonna end up like Paul McPheorson. I went to school with him and with all the attention he got in his senior year just got to his head and it F'ed him up. L. James has'nt got to that point yet, the H.S. season has'nt started yet but trust me, he will.

Ya know, I don't know if that kid will get like that. He's already been in the light for a while now. He was on the cover of SI for goodness sakes. If that wasn't enough attention on him, then I dunno what was. He was barely a junior in HS. He is a year older now, and a year wiser. If he really is what everyone says he is, he should be ok. I just want this kid to come to the NBA so that he can get posterized. Then, if he's got it, posterize fools back.

Hey Graphik-

I used to play pickup games with Paul McPherson at South Shore H.S. a few years back. That guy had crazy hops but his jump shot was suspect. I really thought he would stick around the league afterrhe made the Suns roster as a free agent. I think he was like the first guy to get a guaranteed contract after being a non invited free agent to the Suns camp. That DePaul team was supposed to be the resurgence of college bball in the city and it fizzled out after a couple of years.

Man, I was looking foward to that depaul team but after Richardson left, everybody jumped ship.
But yea thats about all he had was hops. A buddy of mine played on the team with him and through him at least 6 alley oops a game. Thats what generated all the buzz about him.
But I seen Q play in a few games when he was at whitney Young, and I knew that guy was gonna play some NBA ball someday. The thing with Paul was the enviroment he was in. South Shore was a F'ed up Nierborhood to be in. And everybody he met was probably phoney towards him. On his jock cause he in the paper everyday.
But Lebron james, he's gonna go through the same sh!t, girls be throwing P at him, guys all on his nuts. Teachers let him do whatever he wants. He probably gone be coaching the team. I mean all that gets to ya head, and he might come into the league with an atttude and some vet gon school his ***.
And he's only a junior, Sh!!!!!t, I hop he can survive the fame.
When you look to far ahead thats when you fail, he already know he gone be rich, esspecialy his parents and that leads to pressure to perform.

Ya, so he'll be eligible for the NBA draft in June. If he does come out and go to the NBA, he'll be the number 1 pick. I'll even put money on that one.

I wonder who will get him. I know it's early in the season, but what team do you guys think is bad enough to pick this kid up? The Knicks and the Heat look incredibly bad. I wouldn't be surprised if he did go to the Knicks. If that happens, there are going to be conspiricy theories thrown around all over the place.

Sorry for going off topic guys, but I was thinking what the Knicks should do to salvage their season. I recently read that Damon Stoudimire is unhappy at Portland (surprise, surprise). I think the Knicks should trade with them. They want to get rid of Spree, and the Blazers have enough PG's to have 3 different teams, so why not. Mighty Mouse would get the start in NYC, with a lot of minutes, and it will help the Knicks where they are weak at. Just a thought. Sorry again for going off-topic.

The problem with that would be that the last thing the Blazers would need is another swingman who is going to look only for his minutes and shots. They already have about 4 of those. Sprewell on the Blazers would be an implosion waiting to happen.

I think it's a little too late for that implosion. They are already having problems with their players. I guess it's better to have it earlier than later.

Damn his parents are greedy! I feel bad for the kid, but if its meant to be, it'll all work out.

BTW the article said LeBron James is 6'8" 240. He is already a point guard and if he grows 2 more inches, he will be drafted as a powerforward or center...

Nah...he'll be a small forward. Al Harrington is 6'9 250. He'll be that kind of player (size wise) + nice handles. I'm thinking kinda like Dirk but without Dirk's J. IF everything works out for him, of course.
