    Radical NBA Changes

I heard this radical idea about changing the way an nba game is played.

Most people say the game now is always about the last 2 minutes, however the game has always been about the last 2 minutes since scoring is relatively an simple part of the game.

Not sure which nba legeng suggested it (might have been Rick Barry) but he said that why not make it like tennis where you play two 20 minute halves. The winner of the first half gets 1 point. The winner of the second half gets 1 point. If the game is tied at 1 point a team you have an overtime to decide the winner.

I really like that idea. That would make some interesting exciting games from begining to end.

lol youd have to find a good "scoring" schedule or setup.

if not, it' be all about the defense, with scores in the 20's, which SUCKS imo. or if they have to reach a certain high mark, they'd be all about offense, chucking up threes.

      I hate that idea.

Out of all the posts, this basically says it for me too. No offense, but tennis and basketball are two totally different sports. Structure and everything is different. If they played halves, would it be 24 minutes or 20 like college? Would they have a longer halftime too? How many players per roster? If it ended up like that, then the whole game would have to change. Makes no sense when perfection is basically already present in the sport.

I am getting tired of hearing "legends" complain about todays game. "these guys can't shoot... They don't respect the game... In my day we played better ball..."

Everything is fine the way it is. If the referees would actually call the games according to the rules, things would be a lot better.

Like tennis? I can see it now. Teams come back out after half time:

                          "Pacers, 15..... serving Sixers, love"
