An Important Tip for creating Yao Ming in ID2003!

If youre making Yao for ID2003
make sure that his weight doesnt go above 264 lbs!!
His built would just be right if its 264 lbs.

If you try to input 265 lbs and onwards, he would look like a 7'5 white Shaquille with hair. (His real weight is about 290, I think)

as for the his ratings, Use Adolfo Zaun's ratings as a starting point but you still have to change it.
    Ratings changes:
    Increase his shooting abilities.
    Lessen the dribbling and speed.
    Increase blocks
    Lessen Rebounds
    Lessen SHowtime
    Lessen Jumping
    Decrease hookshot
    Increase Fadeaway
Decrease his Face Up Defense (marbury killed him with a xover. LOL)
    Decrease his Deke move rating
    Decrease strength
    The ratings changes are
    all up to you!
(I still havent decided what the best ratings for him are.hehehe)

Input MOMONEY in the code input screen to be able to easily give him ratings.

For mine, I kept him at his true weight (296 pounds). I don't mind if his build doesn't look right since Ming has an unusual build anyway, with an underdeveloped upper body but an extremely strong lower body. He's not going to look right no matter what you do.

On that note, I think I left his strength rating alone. If you could separate it, like have ratings for upper and lower body, I'd have tinkered with it but I decided it would be better off like it is. I just used judgment based on how I've seen him play. He shouldn't be able to back down someone like Shaq, but in the WBC's I saw him back down Antonio Davis in the low post like Davis wasn't even there, for example. He needs to build up his upper body but he's stronger than people often give him credit for.

The main things to knock down are his stamina and jump ratings. He has little leaping ability and gets clearly winded when he has to play more than 25 minutes or so.

Oh, and make his name Ming Yao, so his jersey will say Yao on it, like in real life

Yao is already in the ID2OO3 PAL version. He is pretty much spot on IMO. Tires quick, has a sweet shot, not strong at backing down, can rebound and pass.

I have to take my wife shopping today (we haven't been married long, so I still have to try and do the right thing!)...but if I get time later, I'll try and post the stats they have given him.

He's the exact same as the screenshots this site posted of him etc from their preview copy...so I presume they just took him out for the US release (no contract) and put him back in for later releases (by then he'd signed an NBA contract)

Some time ago I posted Yao Ming's stats from the PAL version on this forum - the link to the post is:

          monkey,
most of the people in this site don't have the PAL version.
          we dont have Yao Ming!

          Sheets,
I care about how Yao Ming should look. There's a big difference in the appearance when you go above 264lbs. it's the boundary. I dont want to see a 7'5 overweight guy running around with a #11 Yao jersey. Giving him 264 lbs, would give him the correct built. He really looks like Yao (except the face).

Syphon, Thanks for the info! i'll go get it.
