What is EASports address. Not Email. My letter is enclosed. What do I need

I will be mailing EASports. I need somebody to tell me the address for EA Sports along with one of the worker's names. Not someone who would actually get alot of mail but someone who doesn't get that much but still has some type of say so. I will be complaining about Live.

    December 1, 2002

    Dear EASports,

First I would like to thank EASports for making NBA Live 2003 such a success. Even though Live 2003 is very huge leap from Live 2002, there are still a few problems that could made Live 2003 a better game than NBA 2k3. Please take my requests into consideration I am a consumer. I also possess a very knowledgeable basketball mind, so also please take my requests into consideration. I am sending you this letter because I know that Sega will not open my letter let alone listen to my phone calls. I trust that EASports will take care of their fans.

    1. Running the baseline: Live was the only game not to allow the player to run the baseline after a made shot. This allows people to have the option to make better passes when inbounding the ball. I am sure that you already know this, but it will be inexcusable for Live 2004 not to have this feature.

    2. Unrealistic ratings: even though this does not matter since you allow us to edit ratings, the ratings, especially the speed ratings were overly exaggerated.

    3. Arcade style blocks: I am sure that people complained about how the blocks are just NBA Jam Style. The majority of the blocks just fly into the backcourt. Why? Please attempt to fix this problem

    4. Ability to edit heads: It was frustrating that you all would not allow us to edit player’s
heads. You give us the option to edit, to keep up with current player models, but then you limit us on what we can/cannot do. Please editing player heads should be allowed in Live 2004.

    5. Fake passing: This is a very minute problem but NBA Live 99 for the PSX allowed us to fake pass. NBA 2k3 allowed us to fake pass, why the downgrade? EASports is better than that.

    6. Dunking. Everybody cant windmill. This is where I think EASports gets lazy. First of all, every player should have a label as to what type of dunker they are. The options should be power, flashy, and basic. I am sure you understand what I am trying to say. Power dunkers like Shaq and Ben Wallace. Flashy dunkers like Vince, Jason Richardson. And basic dunkers like Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Also the dunking rating system should be as the followed. You should place 2 dunk ratings in the system. One should be frequency and the other should be creativity. This can be used if you do not understand or buy my 1st request. Frequent dunkers include Shaq. Of course frequency is how often the person will dunk. Creativity would be the amount of different dunks that one should be able to do. Windmills and 360’s should not be able to be done in traffic like Live 2003 allows us to do. Each player should have a list of dunks that he would be able to perform. I do not know how advanced EASports is but is it possible to only do 360’s and Windmills on fast breaks, when the player is by himself? Just something to think about.

    7. Practice mode: the player should have the option to have practice with the whole team, if desired, and the option to have defense present in practice mode. Free throw practicing should also be allowed during practice mode.

    8. Inbound plays: as with inbounding plays, the player should have the option to run inbounds plays. The players have no type of logic; they just stand there and wait for the ball. Not working EASports. Please correct this problem.

    9. Sound effects: Why is it at times when a players elevates for a dunk, it sounds as though a rocket is taking off. I think EASports needs to have more realistic basketball sound effects. Blocks are so loud and full of bass. The rim in Live is so annoying. Why does it have to be so loud? Make it realistic. Go to an actual gym and shoot, hit the rim, and listen. Or go watch an NBA game, the rim is not that loud. SO please take care of this. The crowd should be more interactive and not be so defaulted. Booing the home team while losing should happen, also booing the away team should happen at times. Booing should also occur after a bad call by the ref. I think you all can do a much better job than that. The PA Announcer has kept the same speech patterns since Live 97. You got lazy on this aspect also; thinking nobody would notice it. But hey, I did.

    10. Franchise mode: Everyone that I know has been furious with EASports for their lack of effort placed into the franchise mode. Instead of using that point system, why not use actual money. It is present in Madden 2003. Why not spend as much time and effort on Live as There should be an option to view hot/cold players for the week. And this time would you please base it on actual performance and not just be some random nonsense. Too many things in franchise mode are random; i.e. the players ratings increasing/decreasing. I do not know what constitutes a player’s rating jumping or dropping, but EASports needs to do a better job of making the changes accurate. The ability to adjust the schedule would be greatly appreciated. But remember you have restrictions to on this because each team has to play each other team in their conference and/or division a certain amount of times. So keep that into consideration too.

    11. Created Players: I did not enjoy only being able to select from a few African American faces. Instead of only having head changes, you should allow skin changes also. You should be able to change the face, and then change the color of the skin. Every other basketball game allows it, but Live 2003 doesn’t. Come on EASports, I am starting to lose faith in you. Also when creating a player, you should allow us to pick the shooting range for the person. It was present in Live 99, but for some reason EASports left that option out.

    12. Rim physics: SegaSports’ NBA 2k3 displayed the most beautiful rim physics ever displayed in a video game. This was a very enjoyable thing to watch. I was annoyed at the inconsistency of Live 2003’s free throw makes. If I PERFECTLY positioned the horizontal/vertical balls, I still did not make it in ALL net. That was odd. Certain points should depict certain types of makes. You need to work more on rim physics.

Now I am sure that I did enough complaining. I am sure that you receive thousands of these every year, but all I want is just for my letter to be read. Please take all of my ideas into consideration when creating the next basketball game. Live 2004 should be the greatest game ever, not sports game, game ever. But it is up to EASports to listen to their fans. The fans that they still have, that have not yet flocked to Sega Sports.

Go to NBA-Live.com and ask for Tim's e-mail.

He used to run the site...and, ironically enough, lead a campaign to make changes like you suggest. Now he works on the game...very cool for him ...but odviously, corporate powere is corporate power and if his boss says "make it more arcade...it sells better" then that's what he has to do.

Yours won't be the only letter. They get 1000's...

I personally hate LIVE nowadays. However, it sells VERY well and sales is the bottom line...so you can't blame them.

Re: What is EASports address. Not Email. My letter is enclosed. What do I need

Well first of all there is no real address for EA Sports since the EA Sports games are made by different groups (Tiburon, EA Canada)... or you can send it to EA Corporate HQ which that address should be listed in the NBA Live 2003 manual.

          One addy is

          EA
          P.O. Box 7578
          San Mateo, CA
          94403-7578

So you need to send this to the team that developed the game EA Canada....

          Electronic Arts (Canada) Inc.
          4330 Sanderson Way, Burnaby, BC
          Canada V5X 4G1

Can't promise that is still their address but it was the only one I could find.

PS.. There is a reason why EA makes it hard for you to mail them.

Re: What is EASports address. Not Email. My letter is enclosed. What do I need

I wouldn't bother if I were you because they can shoot holes all through your letter. To wit:

Running the base line- very minor and they certainly know about it. They include and remove stuff like this every year. Get used to it.

The ratings- you already shot yourself down here. You know we can edit it so why bother asking them to? Remember when we COULDN'T edit ANYTHING? People still complained. Regardless there would still be someone who wasn't happy with their ratings and would complain so forget this one.

The blocks - again this can be edited so forget it. Better that you ask for an easier WAY to edit such as a slider or two than be specific.

Head editing - they know about this too but instead choose to concentrate on animations which are the best of all the basketball games on the market right now. Plus on the PC you can edit it yourself. I personally would like to be able to edit hair and body type like in the old Madden 2001 but I digress

Fake passing -; this falls into the first thing I said; minor and they already know about it.

Dunking - again you shot yourself down so just drop it. We can edit it. Your suggestion already exists in the game- you just have to work at it.

Practice mode - short of running an in team scrimmage (bench vs. starters or something like that) this would be pointless. Sega always includes this but since no one plays D on you, you wind up basically passing to players that just stand still. This is minor.

Sound effects - THIS is the one valid point in the whole thing I saw. And believe it or not they actually toned them DOWN from 2002! Far as the PA announcer, who cares. At least hes TRYING to call the players names out like they would in real life. In most other games the announcer says the away teams players with the same enthusiasm as the home teams. EA did a GREAT job here for the most part.

Franchise mode - they know about this; no question. But there are certain things YOU should know before expecting them to take this one seriously. First and foremost NO NBA game can use real money. This is a rule and until Stern backs off it you can forget it. Now on PC Ive heard there are programs that simulate it but on the console don't hold your breath. They CANT. Also we CAN adjust the schedules to our liking by adjusting the length of the season.

Create a player - again I assume you are too young to remember games like NBA showdown and even as late as Live 95 where there was NO Barkley and later NO David Robinson. Then I also guess you forget what early create a player engines produced- pop in NBA in the Zone 2 for a full refresher on just how BAD create a player can be. Be thankful we even HAVE a decent create a player that at least makes us feel our CAP belongs in the game instead of looking like hes from another game. Plus trust me they know about it. Just take a look at Maddens.

Rim Physics - here I just flat out have NO idea what youre talking about. Watching the ball roll slowly around the rim or go in and out or banging of the inside of the rim before popping up in the air then back in again is simply the best rim physics Ive EVER seen!
You should seriously take a look at some of the other games first before complaining about this one- they are near perfect.

Now dude, don't get me wrong- Live needs A LOT of work but cmon man pop in Bulls Vs Blazers if you need a reminder of how far weve come and then pop in NCAA Final Four if you want to see where Live is going. EA knows all this. We just have to hope that Sega hurts them enough in the pocket to make them get serious again. Remember: last time Sega hurt EA was in 94 with David Robinsons basketball and look how EA responded- lil game called Live 95. Now, Sega has officially knocked the hell out of them (more and more players in the actual league are playing 2K according to Slam and USA Today) and with more to come with their college which expands on a already great franchise engine by allowing us to import college players EA has one option: ante up or call.

Check the threads dude. There is some great info on how to improve Live if you just look for it and its right on this site.

At least give hime a shot MT. He's making legetiment arguments but 1 thing I think he should'nt do in the letter is bring up 2k3. That might tee them off a little.
But in reality, we all know whats gonna happen to that letter.
Same thing with letters to santa.

Re: What is EASports address. Not Email. My letter is enclosed. What do I need

It was not my intent to discourage him as much as it was to point out how EA could shed him and depending on how young/impressionable he is crush his spirit.

Back in 94 I waited some 4 hours on EAs phone line (at the time no one really bothered with their web site) in an attempt to share some suggestions with their suggestion people. After all that time I finally got to someone and just as I was about to tell the guy (now remember I was NOT just a consumer I was a retailer at the time) about all the requests the various customers had been giving me and you know what he said?
'We think you will be very satisfied with our game. Thanks for calling...'Click.

Years later (97 to be exact) I was at the annual Software ECT. Managers meeting in Nashville when Knockout Kings was set to hit the stores. After playing for about 5 minutes dispite the EA rep almost standing on my back telling me how every boxer who is was or will be a boxer is in the game I went into the boxer bios looking for Mike Tyson. Obviously he was not there. I asked the rep why Tyson of ALL people was missing seeing as how they had corned off a ¼ of the room with their products claiming them to be the most complete sports line avalible while simultaneously other managers were cornering another set of EA reps with simpular questions about the lack of a decent injury engine compared to Sonys Gameday (at the time Gameday ran neck to neck with Madden in some stores based on sales) and you know what we were told?
'Don't worry, typical consumers buy EA games based on name recognition alone plus it leaves something for gamers to look forward to next year. It will sell. Trust us...'

That's EA attitude. So I just wanted to try to spare this guy the canned 'sorry dude'response he MIGHT get if he submitted it without thought. Don'beleve me- look at the interviews for live on here! This guy is flat out TELLING us Live is better. Regardless of what is thrown at him he dodges it like Neo or something.

Dodges it like Neo, thats hilarious. Yea in that interview he was trying his hardest to doge thos questions. His favorite quote was"we did'nt have enough time to implement that feature. Hopfully next year we'll work on it." or something like that.
I get what your saying, Mega-companies like EA could give less than a damn about us consumers. they make what they feel like. What pisses me off, is I just say there ad in a magazine recently, and all i saw was that damn anolog control, that is what there whole marketing campaign is revoled around. So that means thats basiclly the only thing they concentrated on.
But to get back to the point all I was saying is that if he wants to waste his time go ahead. he must be young if he think they will acually pay attention to it.No offense DC.

Hey MT, did you go to the Nashville convention the year after? I was at the Opryland myself I think it was 98 or 99, Im not sure but I distinctly remember crashing the COuntry Music awards and hitting the after party only to miss half the day of classes the next day. Needless to say I was a manager at a Software Etc in Jersey. Just wondering where you're from.
