    Yao is for REAL

    27 points.
    18 boards
    3 blocks

A couple of BEAUTIFUL give and go assists to the Franchise and Moochie.

Against the best front line in the NBA.

    Oh yeah...and he's a rookie.

    Re: Yao is for REAL

There were alot of haters for Yao at the beginning of the year. Many analysts were saying how the Rockets blew it when they chose Yao on the first pick including some posters here. I for one, saw his footwork and finesse in the internationals and knew the Rockets made the correct choice.

Now... After is 27 point 18 rebound performance over Duncan and Robinson, would you still have picked Jay?

He got schooled by the Kings because he didn't get enough touches. Rudy heard the critism and that's why you say him hoist up 18 shots yesterday instead of the three he had against the Kings...

          10 years? I say three.

I was at the damn game,YAO IS FOR REAL!!!! he played tenacious d got more boards than tdunc and Robinson combined he is so smooth.

The line is GIVE IT TO YAO to get the offense started he can start it all, when he doesnt get touches the rockets struggle.

Rockets dominated the spurs they gave up only 1 3 pointer TENACIOUS TENACIOUS D, GO ROCKETS GO YAO ROOKIE OF THE YR and a all star.

Yao is good no doubt about that. The key will be where his conditioning is come February. The season is still only 15 or so games old. Let's see the numbers he puts up in the second of a back to back in the middle of February. I hope he does well though, becuase he is the most hyped international player in history, in my opinion.

I here yah man. Right now he's young. I'm waiting to see what type of injuries that's going to plague him. Seems like all the big men are always be having foot problems.

I'm not talking about injuries, although those willl be a factor. I'm worried about just wear and tear. 82 games is a huge amount of games. Rookies have the hardest time with it going from 30 games in college to 82 games. Thus, the regular wear and tear of a pro season will probably get him. But, once he gets used to that, he is an all-star.

one thing good about yao, he is one of the few big men that will run the floor, quickly back on offense and back on defense, something rarely seen with many big men.
he' got great foot work and a great shot
Rudy T is doing a great job of incorporating yao, i think the backcourt have to learn to use yao, because even if steve francis like's it or not, he is one of the best if not the best scorer on the team.

hope rockets make it to the playoffs

you can call me a ***** all you want. but all i have seen is a good night here and a good night there. I have not seen any consistency yet. One night he hits 25 the next 5. I dont wanna hear about touches, yeah francis and mobley shoots a lot but he gets his fair share of touches also. He has impressed me in some games but not enough to say he is for real IMO. I'm not saying he's garbage but lets see where he's at the end of the year. No way in heck he's a better scorer than francis, he's been consistent since his rookie year, thats a fact.

yao is the ultimate team player. that is the problem with basketball today. everybody wants to judge everything on points. yao has the highest shooting percentage in the nba and the most points per shot. he passes the ball well. he likes to actually try to run an offense unlike most nba players today. if it wouldnt be for steve francis dribbling in circles till there is 4 seconds left on the shot clock then shooting, this team would be better. hopefully they learn how to play together and can take it to the next level. yao is my early pick for rookie of the year.

Damn dawg, you've got 27 posts but you know that some posters here said the Rockets shouldn't have picked Yao first? Stretchin it a bit?

I think like the analysts some of us said Yao will not be a force in the NBA for a couple of years. And guess what...we're right. He's very talented and is showing it on occassion but is also very inconsistent. It's not about touches. It's about understanding the Rockets offense, the NBA game, dealing with the more physical players and faster pace. Just like every other player out of college or coming from another league it'll take time for him to adjust, especially as skinny as he is. I give him the same props I gave him when I saw his first highlight before he got drafted...and I still say he ain't there yet.

This Spurs game was very nice but so far my favorite Yao game of the season was the one last week against the Sonics. He barely took any shots, but the Rockets kept giving him touches in the post and when the Sonics brought a double team at him, he took them apart with his passing. On offense and defense, he controlled the game without racking up huge stats. No offense to Steve Francis, who I'm a huge fan of, but the Rockets offense is so much smoother when they run it through Yao. The following game at Sacramento, they stopped giving him touches and the team completely floundered. After the Spurs game, I think the Rockets are finally getting the message that they need to run the offense through him as the first option, since he gives the team a good starting point for their offense instead of the one-on-one streetball that they tend to fall back on with their guards running things.
