OK BBALL EXPERTS, WHAT THE HELLS UP WITH...?....

the Lakers?!! ive heard every excuse. now that Shaq's back, this team looks like sh!t. there's no way in hell this team should be in the bottom of the Pacific division. let the excuses begin....

I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I'm not sold on this year's Lakers. Every Laker fan under the sun will tell you how they'll start playing when they need to, and while that's been somewhat of a truth in the past, this year it just seems different. I'm not entirely sure they will start playing when they need to. They might, they might not, we'll see.

The Lakers are *** plain and simple, they can keep their overweight gorilla of a center, and their gay boywonder Kobe Bryant. Well I guess they'll get there championship next year when King James is there. Can you spell L-O-T-T-E-R-Y.

Re: OK BBALL EXPERTS, WHAT THE HELLS UP WITH...?....

It's all about their bench. They have a fine starting five, assuming Robert Horry is starting and not Samaki Walker, and they could possibily win every remaining game they had, IF they played one half of play. They get worn down, THe bench can't score any points or keep the pressure off the starters.

Shaquille and Kobe both played for 40+ minutes in their latest lose. They've never had to play that many minutes to get a solid victory against mediocre teams in the past.

But the whole NBA is getting better, Coaching wise, Players wise. Everybody, year by year, is getting better except for the Lakers. They basically have the same team that they had 3 years ago. Now-a-days you see guys getting traded every month, and Blockbuster deals being set off 8 times a year to start things off fresh.

Maybe it's Phil getting too old, or the whole NBA catching up with the Lakers personel', But it's really too early to assume.
It may take a whole decade to figure ths one out. So MY guess is as good as any other as to why their not there "normal selfs"

I was listening to Jim Rome today and he put it well. The supporting cast is WEAK. Sure they have guys who can make shots every now and then and Horry is clutch in the playoffs, but overall the supporting cast is a bunch of scrubs, either too old, or too young, or too stupid to understand the offense. Anyways, like he said (and i agree) In the end, the talent of Shaq and Kobe will win over and they'll just decide to sto trusting their teammates and they'll win the damn championship by themselves.

Hey mad, I sure would love that. Even though, Im not a "laker fan", I sure would love watching Kobe and Shaq double up for 90+ points every outting and never getting subbed out. Not to mention dominanting.

That right there.......would.......... be fun to watch basketball.

Wally,

Stop crying because Shaq and Kobe are so good. Although i guess it is a compliment to them. Basically you're saying that no team can handle the Lakers if Shaq and Kobe decide to dominate. what about the Mavs with there "depth" and Portland with their "depth" and Sacramento with their "depth"??

Won't happen. For one, one of them would get injured for sure. They can't handle that for too long. If it worked, all teams would have to do is go after Shaq, and let Kobe shoot all of the shots, and you know they can't win that way. Teams aren't afraid of the Lakers anymore, and they smell blood. This is going to be an interesting season.

I dont think the benches of those teams you mentioned madskillz, can stop Kobe and Shaq when their on the court together, with great chemsitry, dominating the hell out of the other teams.

If the starters can not stop them, DEPTH has nothing to do with it. Bench players are bench players because they are not capable of starting. THey are in there to give rest to the starters, IMO.

Maybe you don't get what I'm saying. But i'm definetly not crying about them. Why do you think I'm crying?

so you're saying that when Shaq and Kobe decide to play together no team in the NBA can stop them right? for example, you agree that (Kobe + Shaq) > (Bibby, Christie, Peja, Webber, Divac). Well then, what are we agruing for?

Ok, so for about five years now, I've been hearing Garnett getting railed even though he's had no supporting cast. Kinda funny how the shoe's on the other foot.

Also, what's so remarkably different about the team this year than last eyar or the year before?

*pulls out chalkboard and chalk*

Ok, here's how it goes.

For years, I've heard you and others say how Garnett is overrated because the Wolves have never gotten out of the first round. For years, people have completely ignored how Garnett has never had much talent around him. I have never been able to use that as a viable justification for him not being overrated. Don't ask me why.

*draw a circle on the chalkboard*

Now, Kobe and Shaq are being accused of being overrated. Now you are saying it's because their supporting cast is WEAK. Do you see the similarities here? Do you see the double standard here?

*draws a duck on the chalkboard. Figure out the symbolism of that one*

Do you understand?

*draws the posion face guy on the chalkboard, just for kicks*

Now, back to my question, how has the Lakers supporting cast changed these past few years?

First of all, this part literally made me gasp. I have NEVER said KG is over rated. I love KG, so I don't know where you got that. second, who the hell is saying Shaq and Kobe are overrated? Maybe a couple of crazy kids on these forums, but noone in the basketball world. I'm not trying to defend Shaq and Kobe against accusations of being overrated. If people think they're over rated then they're wrong, plain and simple.
Anyways, back to your question, the supporting cast is not that much different. Shaq and Kobe have been carrying the team for 3 years and they'll do it these year too. I just want people to release how weak the supporting cast is so that they realize how great Shaq and Kobe are. And by the way, the T-Wolves have a better supporting cast than the Lakers.
