    SON OF A...

I knew I was going to be bored at work today so I went to the drug-store to purchase 4 pack of Redbull and some magazines, picked up the new FHM and then thought I was buying a SLAM. I get back to my store and go to look through the SLAM but it's not SLAM it's SLAM presents KICKS. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? a whole magazine dedicated to basketball shoes, who reads this? I was so mad.

I left the magazine on my desk and went to flirt with the hot girl that worked today and I come back and this guy i work with is reading my SLAM presents KICKS and I couldn't stop laughing about it.

if this doesn't go here, i apoligize but I think that it's mostly basketball fans that would buy/read/loathe the mag.

It's not much different then a magazine for cigar enthusiasts. I think it's called a "niche market"

Thanks for letting me know thats its out. I have to go to B&N and check it out. You obviously have no idea how big the Kicks market is. I have no data to back it up, but I would guess that that once a year Slam/Kicks issue sells very well.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Yeah, I get what you're saying, I subscribe to Wine Spectator, for example. That magazine focuses primarily on wine, of course, but also includes articles and features related to the "lifestyle"(most of which I can't afford as a 23 year old student, haha).

I get that the shoes/"kicks" phenomena is part of the modern basketball culture, just as, say, dining and travel is to the wine drinkers lifestyle. That said, however, an ENTIRE issue devoted to just shoes is more egregious than just a feature or monthly column. I'd be PISSED if wine spectator had an entire issue on just bowls and stemware(the glasses, for those who aren't familiar with those terms). I can see where the original poster is coming from.
