    Detroit Fans... Have a question

Alright guys, I know that there are some Mod's, and Admin's and a lot of regular posters who are Piston fan's. The Pistons are a great team, and I enjoy watching them play. Right now, they are 33-5, which is great.

With that said, I was looking at their schedule, and it looks like they've had an extremely easy schedule thus far. Granted, they have beaten the Spurs twice... and a few other good teams, they still haven't gotten to the roughest part of their schedule.

I just want to know what your thoughts are, or if I am just completely off. I just don't see them reaching the 70 win status that a lot of people are talking about, mainly because they have lost 5 games, and they still haven't got to the "meat" of their schedule yet. Pistons fans, chime in here and let me know your take on this. Am I way out in left field with this assumption?

I think you are a little off. To me they are clearly the best team in the NBA. Their roughest portion of their schedule was the first 18 games. In that time there was 2 west coast trips and 12 road games in all. With no more West Coast trips and already a 10+ game lead in the East the home court for the Eastern playoffs is already wraped up IMO.

You also have to look at their point differential. They are outscoring opponents by an average of 9.1 ppg. Next closest is Pheonix at 6.1. They are not just beating teams but they are beating them badly night in and night out

I do not see them getting to the 70 win mark though. This is a team that cares about 1 thing, another ring. The minute they lock up Home Court thoughout the playoffs you will see them shut it down a little. Locking up home court early or not I do not think they would get to 70 though. I am not sure if we will ever see another team reach 70 wins, that Bulls team was just unreal.

I agree with Injun that the first 20 games were the toughest stretch.

Here is a link to the best article that I've seen on their run for 70. The writer really knows his ****.

I don't think 70 but close, but then again you never know
i think staying healthy is the key and they have been able to do that

Also the scary thing is this is still a pretty young team

I think that they will win 65-68 games. Personally the only game I really care about is Dallas at Detroit later in the season.

Looking forward to see if Dallas can beat them for the 6th time in 8 games and the 2nd straight time in Detroit.

Oh yeah Injun... I know that they are the best team in the league, and are a much better team than any out there. I just didn't see that many "elite" teams on their schedule that they have played yet. I do enjoy watching them play, but I don't get to often.

Clay, do you think they will make 70? I'm just curious, just because I don't get to see them that often. The games that I've seen them, I've been impressed, but just don't see them as a total powerhouse, and don't see them have the same second half as they did the first.

I think they will come close to 70 games and I think they are so good that even if their toughest part of the schedule isnt out of the way (we seem to have different opinions in the topic) that they still are gonna be pretty hard to beat regardless.

Id say 67-70 if their starting 5 remains healthy.

My opinion is (as written here) that they will win about 68 games.

They ARE a dominent team. They ARE a powerhouse. Even if you've just watched their nationally televised games, they have so many weapons and ways of rolling it at you. You never know where it's coming from.

                      Thank you, Captain Obvious.

But, I think this team has shown their playoff intensity making the ECF 3 years in a row. This is a team built for the playoffs.

I'd say the Pistons win 68-70 games. The bench is starting to show up, so their looking even better now.

I do think though they have played a tough schedule so far though. They started the season playing just about every game on the road, and had 2 West Coast Trips in like a one month span. You can say what you want about the competition, but 3-0 against Miami and the Spurs looks good.

I dont think 70 will happen. To be honest, I dont think it really matters to the players nearly as much as a Championship does. As another poster mentioned, once Detroit locks up home court, I hope they rest up a bit and get prepared for the playoffs. I really like how Delfino has come on as of late. If he keeps improving they are going to be really, really tough to beat down the stretch.

Holding the Pistons to under 41% FG% is how you beat them.

Utah and Cavs have already implemented a blueprint for success against the Pistons.

Dallas blew them out so there is no lesson learned in their defeat of Detroit.

What is the "blueprint" for doing that? What did they do that forced the Pistons to shoot the ball poorly? The Jazz got the Pistons twice on the tailend of back to backs. That's not their blueprint, it's scheduling.

Catch a team on a bad shooting night and you have a chance to win. It's not rocket science.
