the statement is "let's give the win to the lakers coz we want them to reach the playoffs and beat them there! coz one win might get them out of the playoffs and that would be a shame!

I'm just wondering if everyone is just excited for a win, or would it matter the same if they beat the Warriors. Whats the diffrence, or statement he's talking about?

I hate the Lakers, but this was a statement game in December if there ever was one. This loss will linger with the Mavs for quite a while.

How can it not? It was an epic collapse against the top dog, the team Dallas probably will need to topple if it's to reach the Finals.

              Take care,
              PK

P.S.: I'm not a big NBA fan at all, but that was a very entertaining game, at least what I saw.

That wasn't a statement game. For one thing, the Mavs DOMINATED the Lakers for 3 straight quarters. They collapsed and let the Lakers back into the game in the fourth. Yeah, the Lakers did get hot in the fourth, but it was because the Mavs just stopped playing their game. Anytime a team does that, no matter how big the lead, they're in trouble.

I think that game may turn things around for the lakers..it kinda reminds me of the playoffs when horry hit that shot.. that turn things around for the lakers and they ended up with another championship.. when u are down by almost 30 against the top team in the league and u come back and win .. true enough Dallas stop playin ball but lakers did put some pressure on them and for some reason Dallas got nervous..I wonder if Dallas was playing a team like memphis with a lead that big would they stop playin in the second half.Even though the Lakers are off to a bad start they still can affect teams no matter how good that team is..I just wish my Pacers could do that..

Guys cut the freakin' BS, Lakers came back from a 27 point deficit in ONE quarter against the best offense in the league, gotta give them their well-deserved props...

                      Matrix:

I'm not a Lakers' fan at all; hate 'em, in fact. But if the above scenario you mentioned isn't a statement, then what is?

Dominance doesn't mean sh*t when the team that dominated comes out on the wrong end of the scoreboard.

The Lakers made a huge comeback, caused the Mavs to collapse and stop playing their game and earned a rousing victory. What, do you think the Mavs stopped playing their game because they wanted to?

Please. That was a statement game, in two ways. One, the defending champs have a distinct pulse. And two, the Lakers showed Dallas that they still have the fight of a champion and that the title has to be taken from the Lakers, not anointed to Dallas or another team.

Do you honestly think the Mavs already have put this game out of their minds? If so, I have some oceanfront property to sell you in South Dakota.

Was it a statement to Dallas? The Lakers didn't come into the game trying to prove anything. As a matter of fact they were being booed by the crowd. Dallas just should have never lost the game, maybe drive to the whole more, like Van Exel said last year, You can't win by only shooting 3's. Good game nevertheless.

The statement is that to beat a team that is suppossed to be the best team in the leauge after being down by 27 may give them the confidence to go on a run. The Mavs didn't hand that victory over, matter of fact from what I saw the Lakers destroyed their zone defense by hitting open shots after attacking it up the middle of the zone which teams may copy also. The role players are the reason why the Lakers look so bad and if they can get confidence they could be the ugliest (in a good way...for the hip impaired) 6th, 7th or 8th ever in playoffs. Like I said I am no Laker fan I don't think they are best in leauge but I do know as long Shaq is in a jersy its hard to beat the lakers in a 7 game series. Its like the celtics back in the day if u liked them u were in the minority because most people hated them. Same as the pistons and same as the bulls if u win championships people stop liking cause I loved the lakers when they were struggling to beat utah cause I hated the Jazz they were the best in the west at that time.

I thought Sac was the best team in the league. They beat Dallas, now people want to give them a ring already, they but lose games to Cleveland, and Miami. That is what I don't understand. It's many more battles to be fought before the West finals. They had an awesome 4th qtr last night, but aren't they like 2nd or 3rd from last place right now?
