Bball Video Games: Why Don't They Use The Camera Angles Used By ESPN, CBS?
the camera angles on espn, cbs, almost any station that shows basketball are just perfect, you can see the whole court, and the players don't look like ants...why don't the put those angles in bball games?? The standard up down cams are just stupid, as you never see a bball game on tv like that...Tags: None -
Re: Bball Video Games: Why Don\'t They Use The Camera Angles Used By ESPN, CBS?
Great friggin question!
NBA Live 2002 had a camera angle that was pretty close, and I liked it, even though it was a bit too close. This year's Live, they totally got rid of the camera angle! WTF! I've never really liked the "full court", Run-N-Gun view...
The view used by television networks is PERFECT for gaming, because you can see an entire half of the court, and the players still remain big. Plus you can see how far you are from the boundary lines -- you get a sense of the spacing on the court. I don't see why it's so hard for developers to provide this angle... -
Re: Bball Video Games: Why Don\'t They Use The Camera Angles Used By ESPN, CBS?
I know... ever since NBA2K for the Dreamcast, they have ruined basketball on the consoles!
I just got NBA2k3 for the Gamecube and I cannot find a decent camera angle that matches the 'side view' that you normally see on TV and in NBA2K for the DC.
Can someone please help me figure out how to manipulate the NBA2K3 camera angle to look as close to 'side view' on TV as possible?

You're right, it seemed like starting with NBA2k for Dreamcast, "side-views" have been horrible. I think back to NBA Live 97 and it had a great "tv camera" angle...and Live 2003 just took 3 steps backward...Comment

Yea its hard to find a perfect view nowadays. What I suggest them do, is have a user camera where you can set it from anyangle in the stadium. I've always digged that. Only a few games I owned had that option and it was cool.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Maybe its just me but I want my basketball game to look like its on Tv. Gameplay cameras and preplay post play cams. Thats all I ask for in a game camera wise.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

I thought I was the only one concerned about this issue. I absolutely hate the default on the court views in basketball games. That works with football, but with basketball a tv style camera angle works much, much better.
I play NBA 2K3 for the PS2 and the camera angle I use is the Press camera with a Zoom of 5, FOV of 4, and the Height of 4. This get's it pretty closet to a tv style camera.Comment

If you are playing some one who believes that everyteam pushes the ball up the court like its a fast break a camera with post and preplay focus would throw the game off cause you couldn't see where they were throwing the ball. On 2k3 there is a pretty close Camera Angle though
