Re: Artest "too hood" for the Olympics?

When will we look past a players attitude and grade them by their game?

You guys dont want Artest to be on the team but still cant deny that he has game.

Call him a fool, idiot, stupid, hood or whatever but he is in the NBA gettin paid millions. Even throwing away millions and has a good floor game for an idiot.

US will be playing in hostile territory, wouldnt it nice to have someone who has your back when something goes down?

We sent TD over there, he doesnt want to go back cuz he was gettin beat the F down and wasnt gettin the calls from the refs. I dont see anyone calling him a kitty.

Im starting to think that all OS members are angels (except me, Im too hood beotch!!!)

Why take a player like Artest when you can take a player (defense, outside shooting) with a comparable game like a Tayshaun Prince. The Olympics arent about "gettin someone's back yo" its about putting a team that plays well, behaves better and wins on the floor. How much "back" you really need at the Olympics. When was the last time "something went down" at the Olympics? Be real.

Artest is a pain in the ***. He's an its all about "me" player. We already got one of those - Kobe Bryant. Who needs another.

Sure he makes millions and has "game" but i'd rather put someone else of comparable game, better reputation, more team game and is less of a distraction in a US uniform.

Giving Artest a USA uniform is like giving Micheal Jackson a Sean John outfit and pair of Tims. They jus dont go together.

This is great news. I dont want someone like Artest representing the USA in the Olympics.

When they don't represent the United States..

Yeah, that would be great, because our basketball players get attacked all the time at the olympics.

Sorry, I don't think it is too much to ask an adult to act with some degree of civility and maturity. Artest is an 8 year old trapped in a 6'7 frame.

Colangelo is worried about putting pride and winning back into American Basketball in the Olympics. I think he gives a f*ck about what's "too hood" and who has enough "street cred". Only idiots like Artest and 'Melo care about that sh*t.

AI and Artest are nowhere near the same type of player. AI plays his *** off for the 76ers. He brought them to the finals with no decent help and made them a contender. He's never had physical confrontation with any fans. He plays hard and has matured leaps and bounds since he got out of college.

Ron Artest contemplates retirement so he can promote his rap album and other "ventures". He took a contender and single handedly turned the franchise upside down over the course of a year and a half. He's had conflicts with players and dont even need to mention what his confrontation with the fans and what its done to the Pacers and the NBA. Artest is a selfish baby.

Re: Artest "too hood" for the Olympics?

He is too hood. Meaning to be too ghetto and not civilized enough to rep team usa. I guess you could say that but it's really these last two seasons he has caused turmoil. These are the type of people that minority communties send out into the world because of the dangerous neighborhoods and poor schooling that us minorites receive. The thing is Ron Artest is a head case in the NBA who everybody complains about. When in the hood people like ron artest without basketball talent are the people robbing, killing, and stealing. And there are thousands of ron artest's in all the hoods worldwide, but not a basketball head case but dangerous criminals. Just thought i would drop some knowledge on people.

He was on my team, I went through all of it.

ANd I dont want him representing the US in the olympics at all...

And that has nothing to do with him being "hood" or not

How many people would wager money that Artest could pass a pyschiatric evaluation that classifies him as "stable"?

Considering him is really not worth the effort/risk.

Tim Hardaway is from the Altgeld Garden Projects on Chicago's southside BUT he still played for the 2000 Olympic team. I guess that's not hood enough.
