The ASG was always a must see for me, but I didn't tune in for much of the game this year. I used to love watching Jordan, Magic, Bird, Barkley, Olajuwon, Shaq, etc. all play in the ASG. It just feels different now for some reason.

Watching the Pistons play like they way they do contributes to the low ratings because it was boring.

BTW, does anyone know where to get those all star game musics?

No chance in hell. The NBA finals doesn't even come close to drawing a 12.6 rating. Even Survivor doesn't get a 12.6 rating.

I'm not surprised with the ASG drawing the lowest ratings ever. Every big sport besides Nascar is seeing a dip in ratings.

Wow, some of the worst excuses one could think of.

Cable I'll buy just a touch.

The Olympics are in the toilet big time this year. Damn American Idol is beating it like a drum.

Nascar? Come on now. I really don't think Billy Bob was aching for his NBA jones after the 500 was over.

I also don't think Mrs. Smith and her freinds were torn between Desperate Housewives and slam dunks.

Grey's is another reach as well.

The product is slipping and the NBA needs to do something about it. I actually watched an All Star game that day, but it was the 1988 game on ESPN Classic.

Cable contributes, why does an ESPN football games not pull in fox and CBS numbers.

the olympics still pull in double digits

nascar is of the more popular sports in the country whether any one wants to admit it and they just had their highest rating ever.

Some dudes had to let their females get some tv time in too and those shows pull in 20 mill plus

all of that adds up. whether you want to admit it or not. don't be narrow minded and generalize. it's not cool

The Daytona 500 was over by the the time the game started. But maybe Billy Bob was still too drunk to remember the NBA All Star game was on.

The Olympics are garbage this year and that's all anyone in and around the sports world is talking about. The overall ratings for these games will be bad, very bad.

Weren't Grey's Anatomy and Desperate housewives on the air by this time last year? Also, explain how those two shows being on would effect viewers on the west coast? Not every NBA fan lives east of the Mississippi. Maybe the West Coasters were at the beach, the park, or still working in their yards when the game came on.

I don't know what could be worse, being "narrow minded" or fishing for excuses as to why your beloved game is starting to tank.

The All-Star game is just not worth watching at all until the last 5 minutes when they actually start trying to win. It's crap before that. Better defense is played at the rec center here at TCU than in the NBA All-Star game.. No one wants to see two teams of guys half *** it and let people score, etc.. That's just how it is, though.

All of those events I brought still put up about 60-70 million viewers this year which explains why ratings are down. If you want to go back and forth on this and say that 70 million people occupied elsewhere doesn't matter at all then continue.

See this is the problem. People complain that theres no defense, it's all showing off, etc.

But when they play hard they complain that it's boring, not enough highlight reel plays, etc.

You can't have it both ways for 48 mins. That's why I like how they show off the 1st half and play hard the second. I guess I'm in the minority because I thought that all star weekend was very entertaining (sans Nate, Dirk, and Bron doing their best hamburgular impressions... but that's for another thread)

Now please explain why the ratings in the finals have been falling every year. Everyone is on Summer vacation? The game is hurting. Why is it so hard for "Super" NBA fan to handle?
