Paul Pierce

With the way this guy has been playing lately, I think he deserves his own thread. He averaged 33.8 ppg in February, including a 50 point game against the Cavs. Most notably, he scored 38 against the Lakers. In this game he outplayed Kobe, making Kobe look foolish as Pierce blew by him or, late in the game when Pierce was defending Kobe, forcing Bryant to take horrible shots.

Last night, in a tie ball game against the Pacers with 35 seconds left in the 4th, Pierce got the ball near the half-court circle. He dribbled up to the three-point line, called "BANK!" and fired a jumper off the center of the square and into the hoop. He scored the Celtics last ten points, for 31 total, notching yet another Player of the Game Award.

Right now, he's playing better than anyone else in the league. We'll see if he can keep it up Sunday night against the Raptors.

It's between Pierce and Marcus Camby as far as choosing most underrated. But you can't go wrong picking either guy.

Yup.

He plays with some of the most heart in the league and quietly puts the C's on his back.

Well the raptors let Kobe have 81, whose to say Pierce can't get atleast 40?

People underate Marion because they think the reason for a SF to be averaging a double double is because nash and the fastbreak. Marion is a very talented player who has a label of being a system player which is full of it. Put him on the Hawks and they would be over .500 The thing with Pierce this year is that he's easily one of top 5 players in the entire NBA and most think he deserves somewhere in the 20's. Why would Pierce be in the Top 5 well stats don't do they? The fact that he's clutch? The fact that over the years he always carries the Celtics? The fact when Celtics breakout of the Zone defense which they play the whole game, then they turn to man-to-man to have Pierce shutdown a Superstar player he time in and time out shuts them down (see Laker, Pacer games) However Pierce did have a rocky start to the season is certainly picking it up.

If you asked 100 casual basketball fans who the best player in the L is, at least 25-35 would say Iverson. How many would say Pierce? 2? Maybe 3? PP is playing as good, if not better basketball then AI as of late. No question, the most underated player in the NBA.

We'll find out... Ive put a poll up for the guys here at OS.

As much as i don't like the guy's off the court antics, it's Kobe or Lebron.
