    Shawn Kemp Returning?

HOUSTON Former Seattle SuperSonic and Orlando Magic player Shawn Kemp says he's ready to get back in the game after three years of retirement from the NBA.

The 36-year-old former All-Star retired voluntarily from the Magic in 2003, citing weight issues. During his last NBA season he weighed as much as 320 pounds. But he's slimmed down to 270 pounds through an intensive exercise regime.

Kemp told Houston T-V- station K-R-I-V- that he sat out the whole season to get in --quote-- "tip top shape to make a comeback."

He says it's love of the game that's bringing him back -- and he wants to some day make it into the Hall of Fame.

Kemp faced troubles unrelated to weight during his NBA career -- which began when he was drafted by Seattle in 1989. He took a leave of absence during the 2000-01 season to enter a substance abuse program. He also violated the league's anti-drug policy three times.

In 2005, he pleaded guilty to attempted possession of more than 40 grams of marijuana.

Kemp says those problems are behind him.

I was happy until I realized that he's 36. WTH does he thing he'll be able to do in the game now? If he don't have his same knees and aggression, then he's a lost cause. I wouldn't be surprised if the Heat pick him up next year. We'll see how it looks. Man, I looked at some highlights and MAN was he sick. We'll see what it looks like.

If you actually want to SEE him, watch this video http://www.komotv.com/sports/story.asp?ID=40397

It looks like he's in pretty good shape...and he's still 6 foot 10.....The Clippers just gave Vin Baker a chance....

And he doesn't have any money problems.

                  Re: Shawn Kemp Returning?

Kemp is probably better than 1/4 of the guys starting at PF right now. He hasnt played in over 2years so his knees are str8 and that video is from 5 months ago, no doubt hes in even better shape. The whole Kemp comeback story was big when the season started, so i dont know why people are acting like its new.. no doubt they just reprinted the story to see if someone would pick him up for another big in playoff time...

If someone takes the gamble it will pay off, problem is i dont see it happening...

Well if Kemp catches on with a team, he will be the new star for all the NBA groupies. They know he cant resist spreading his good name throughout this country. In a few years his offspring are going to be getting scholarships to play college and maybe go to the NBA. God bless you Shawn Kemp for contributing to the nations basketball talent, not by having camps but by giving them your DNA. I cant wait for his return. We'll have an Olympic team of just "Kemps kids" and it'll be like 92 all over again.
                      My Teams:
                      NFL - Washington Redskins
                      MLB - Detroit Tigers
                      NBA - Detroit Pistons
                      NHL - Washington Capitals
                      NCAA - Virginia Cavaliers
                      NCAA - Arkansas Razorbacks
                      NCAA - Michigan St Spartans

I've thought about that, you'd think atleast one of them would make it.

Didn't he retire without a buyout in Orlando? I thought he left like 7-10 million on the table.

I would give him a shot. He had developed a decent mid range jumper and he knows how to play the game....
