    I haven't played nba2k3 in almost 5 weeks but

I managed to kick Golden States *** on all star level with Milwaukee.

Now I'm not here to brag or talk bad about the game, but I've taken a long break from the game and with all my frustrations in NCaa2k3, I decided to give nba2k3 another shot.

Lone behold Tim Thomas was unbelievable in this game.

The final score was 141-71, the score alone doesn't put into perspective how much Tim Thomas dominanted.

Basically everytime down court except for his fast break dunks, I gave him the ball 15 ft. from the bucket. He pivoted around and almost ever god darn time the defender, A. Jamison, could not stop him. He shot well over 85% for the game from the field and had 15 FT attempts.

I was expecting the computer to double team me, switch guys up, call more TO's, give me more of a challenge, especially on ALL STAR. But nothing ever came.

Now I've had about 100 total games put into nba2k3 and I have never dominated with one player this bad. I have played nba2k, 2k1 and 2k2 and this never occured.

Is this just a freak accident, or do you guys annually get 90+ points-per-game scorers, on AS?

    2 ?'s:

how many points did he score?

what slider adjustments are you using?

toying with the sliders will allow for better game play. you should try it...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Why not up the cpu's defensive ratings.

That still wouldn't account for the CPU's defensive shortcomings. And Wallyhopp's right on the money regarding how easily the defense can be exploited and they don't do squat to adjust. This is one of the reasons why I just can't seem to get into NBA 2k3 anymore. I used to like it a lot, but the more I play it the more its flaws became evident. Just watching regular NBA games shows how much NBA 2k3 gets it wrong. Its shortcomings are way too obvious, and there is just little sophistication to the game. I still can't believe people call this game a sim when it hardly represents the NBA properly. Playing online seems to be a different story since other players are more aggressive and will change up their defenses. But the AI just sucks, IMHO. I hope they get it right in NBA 2k4, because I really did want to like NBA 2k3. I was really looking forward to the game. But now that I'm well into the game, other than its presentation, graphics, and multiplayer aspect, it has little else to offer.

Yes, that's the main problem with 2K3, the CPU doesn't make any adjustments. If one player is dominating, they will do nothing to try to stop him. And if one of their players has a huge mismatch on offense, the game won't exploit it. That's the main beef with 2K3, I don't really care that players don't have their own specific moves like Live 2003, or anythingl ike that, 2K4 must improve the CPU AI to exploit mismatches and stop a user player if he's scoring 50 points on you, double teams, traps, whatever, it's got to be improved.

Yall are going to get Arenas fired up talking about NBA 2K3's shortcomings like that!

I think it was a out of this world, "never gonna happen again" type of game. But it's just crazy that he had all that potential to score 96.

I almost had 100, but I wasn't force feeding him, so he got his fair share.

Arenas's sliders, which are the best I have found, only work if you play a sit back and take jump shot type of game. If you have a star on your team, you can get a pick or crossover and blow right by any defender and put up as many points as you want. You have to play an NBA game, I play as the Magic, so my offense revolves around getting TMac the ball, do some pivots to get space and put up an 18 footer. You just have to pass the ball around, and take a jumper or use a post move to get off a hook or something like that, it's way too easy to take it to the rack every possesion. Since changing to arenas's sliders, I am 6-3 or something like that, I've had one or two games where I just player up tempo all game and destroyed the other team, but the games where you sit back and run plays like a real NBA team, the games have been close. It's frustrating that we need to play this way to keep games close, but I lke that more than doubling up the other team every game with the Nuggets.

me too I stopped playing for about a month. it was great at the beginning but it's just too easy, and I'm playing with the Bulls. I might return this game, I don't even play that much online.

I've been a huge fan of the 2K series and still plan to get 2K3 for X-Mas, but the AI really needs some work and I expect that to be the focus of the next game. It was a really fun game for a long time and I didn't really notice the poor AI, but that is because I was learning the game and it was still competitive. Now, I've mastered it and it is just no challenge anymore. I even chose the worst players possible in a fantasy draft and can win with those guys. I just destroy teams on all-star level when I have a real team. I hope 2K4 makes these changes.
