Petro Jelly wanted a reason and this was your only reason at the time. That's why i made my last post. It doesnt matter either way....they are both great players but it's hard to compare them due to age difference.Comment

Re: ***Official Running Commentary of Every Single 1st Rd NBA Playoff Game Thread***
This is a tough one. Iverson had another killer year statistically. Arenas had a great year as well and if you were to judge them only by statistics.. I'd lean towards Iverson. Then you can factor in each of their teams' success and how well they play a team game.. this is where I think, Arenas has the advantage.
So, if I were a GM and I had to choose between Iverson and Arenas NOW (as in today) to have on my team.. I'd have to go with Arenas because of the age difference and character problems with Iverson.Comment

You''re right, he's not the same player...he's probably better. Just because the Sixers have a horribly built team or that they might want to trade him does not mean that Iverson is any worse than he was 5 years ago. As a Nets fan, I don't like Iverson at all, but how could anyone say he's not as good as he was 5 years ago when he's such a smarter player today.Originally posted by billmaticNo one is saying Arenas has had a better career, so you can kill that argument. Kobe and Duncan are without a doubt better than him. If you're going to make that statement, you might as well hit the last shot. Also, do you realize that he averaged almost 6 turnovers in the first round? I could make an argument that Vince Carter had a better first round than him.Originally posted by cdubdiggity"If you miss both free throws, the game's over, you're going home." - Lebron James to Gilbert Arenas after he misses the 1st freethrow that could may have put the game away in OT...he then promptly misses the second one as Cleveland calls a timeout and the Cavs go on to win the game...by 1 point...lol @ bitter Wizards fans... We get it EWRMETS, you hate LeBron. Way to hop on the "he's not great cause he didn't hit the winning shot" wagon that haters like to do. You did see games 3 & 5 right? And you did see the trap that they put on him at midcourt, right? Half the stuff I've seen you post about LeBron has been bordering on asinine and purely hate-based. At least add some credibility to your posts.Originally posted by EWRMETSKobe and Duncan are without a doubt better than him. ...and of course you'd argue for Vince cause judging by your avatar, you're probably pretty close to NJ and probably a Nets fanComment

I am a Nets fan and in no way did I say Vince Carter is better than Lebron James. Lebron is definitely better. All I said, is you could argue that Vince Carter had a better series than Lebron did. Vince averaged 6 less points, had more rebounds, more steals, less turnovers, and equal assists.Originally posted by bjf1377We get it EWRMETS, you hate LeBron. I do not like Lebron James. He comes off as extremely arrogant to me. As an NBA fan, I'm allowed to pick and choose which players I like. All those "he doesn't hit the winning shot" arguments have merit. Watching a ton of Cavs games this year (because the NBA shoves them on every national game), there were many games where Lebron missed key freethrows or passed to players like Eric Snow or Pavalovic in situations where he should take over. He's also a horrible defender. For a guy to be so athletic and so weak defensively creates a pretty big flaw in his game.
Not every person has to be a "Witness" or Lebron fan. If you're not a Lebron fan or don't think he's the best player to ever play the game, it does not mean you are a *****. And if I was a Wizards fan, I would be pretty pissed off, because there were enough bad calls in this series to say that the officiating was one sided.Comment

I know he had lots of turnovers, and that's an example of him trying way too hard. I dunno how many times throughout the season and playoffs he's made a nice pass and whoever was supposed to get it screwed up and he ended up with a turnover. Game 2 was just absurd, though.Originally posted by EWRMETSI am a Nets fan and in no way did I say Vince Carter is better than Lebron James. Lebron is definitely better. Hah, I wasn't saying you couldn't hate LeBron, I was just pointing out that you obviously don't like him and that was affecting your posts a ton. And I'm really trying to see this arrogance. He conducts himself just as well if not better than most of the players in interviews and in the public eye. Does he whine about calls on the court? Yes, and so does Arenas, Butler, Kobe, Vince, etc....It's human nature to complain about what you don't like.Originally posted by EWRMETSI do not like Lebron James. Watching LeBron as much as I have, I know he is not Kobe. I'd much rather have him pass it off to a wide-open shooter instead of taking a contested jumper. I will say that the Pavlovic shot was one of the few times he passed the last shot away that I didn't agree with. He did need to take that one to the hoop himself. But when he does pass it, it's usually out of good judgement (Jones against Toronto, Flip Murray against Chicago, Jones against Washington, etc)Originally posted by EWRMETSAll those "he doesn't hit the winning shot" arguments have merit. Again, I watched 90% of the series and the part I didn't watch, I listened to on the radio. The only reason people think Cleveland got more calls is because of the timing of the calls. People just casually forget about all the calls Washington got during the first 3 quarters. Hell, it almost seemed like the refs were out to get LeBron with all of the crap charging & blocking fouls called on him during the middle of the series. Frankly, if Cleveland would have lost, we would have made sure to point out some of these shady calls. Re: ***Official Running Commentary of Every Single 1st Rd NBA Playoff Game Thread***
lol, no, he`s not better. He carried that team to the finals by himself 5 years ago. His supporting cast was decent, but not what I would call good. Hell, the second leading scorer on that team was Ratliff / Mutombo. No way AI could do that today. AI may be smarter, but that doesn`t make him a better player.Originally posted by EWRMETSYou''re right, he's not the same player...he's probably better. and btw, AI might be my favorite player in the league, so it`s not like I`m a `*****`, I just don`t think he`s the unstoppable force he was 5 years ago, and I don`t think it`s ridiculous to say that Arenas today is as good as Iverson today.Last edited by billmatic; 05-06-2006, 12:58 PM.Comment
