the atmosphere sucks but the gme play is really challenging and non-repetitve. the game has a very good pace and plays true to the teams in the NBA. not to say th egame is perfect, but gameplay wise would you do to change the to make the game play better...

Definitely has my vote for best b-ball sim ever. Still, I would increase fouls. Have off-the-ball fouls too (could be enabled by user if they want them so that users who just want their games determined by only skill could just choose to play without off-the-ball fouls). Also, I would have more crossovers and post moves such as turnaround fadeaways. Other than that, make the D a BIT more aggressive and have the opposing PG try to guard your pg as he dribbles to the half court line, like Live 2003 does. Maybe tweak the fastbreak AI a bit more. Reduce offensive rebounding a bit, and have blocking fouls and charging fouls called while driving into the lane. Have more defenders sacrifice their bodies to take the charge or get called for blocking fouls. Make players accelerate and stop realistically. It seems like players can stop on a dime, which shouldn't be the case, especially for larger, slower players who run at full speed. These are minor gripes for me though, since I'm really enjoying the game so far.

it makes you wonder why the hell do review (ign.com for instance) reviews games in the first place. they cliam ID game engine hasn't changed since last year. news flash, neither has 2k3's. 2k2 was a more aggressive game than 2k3 is. ID 2k3 is the second best behind LIVE 2000 (pc) IMO....

Defintely.

I played the Jazz the other night and they actually pick and rolled. ##### unreal. They actually pick and rolled all game. That's a simulation. The Celtics and Mavs shot three's, the Spurs go inside. LA run a triangle. Amazingly cool AI.

EVERY game is different.

People talk about 2K3 being a sim, but it has none of the team plays. What constitutes a sim? Great arena's and crowds or ACTUAL NBA team plays? I'd say team plays.

ID2OO3, the deeper you get into your season, the better it gets. The atmosphere is poor, but the achievements and records are really cool the longer I play.

I bought all the NBA games again this year...as I have done since Lakers v Celtics. Geez, I have even bought crap like Fox Basketball and ESPN NBA tonight ove the years in my search for a great NBA game...all the Lives, the 2K series...everything...

For artificial intelligence, this one is so much better than anything I have ever played that it's not even close.

To make it better, I'd add players signature moves. Apart from that, not much...just improve the atmosphere and Neo's points.

re reviews, review sites have a LOT of games to review. They can't do a really in depth review. If I'd reviewed 2K3 and ID2003 after 10 games, I'd of rated 2K3 higher.

After 20 games, it's ID2003 by a mile.

One thing that has annoyed me about the reviews though is that 2K3 is full of bugs. The AI steps out of bounds and fails to pass the back court before the 8 seconds are up etc at least 4 times a game. Not one review mentioned this. It makes you wonder how much they actually bothered looking at the AI.

I'm a big 2K3 fan but hearing all the comments about the execellent game play of ID2003 I'm curious. What I want to know is how are the shooting percentages and how does the franchise mode stack up with 2K3?

ID 2003 is a fine, fine hoops game. The best of the "big three" pro hoops games for the Xbox this year.

Regarding shooting percentages, I see percentages of anywhere between 35-55 percent per game, right out of the box. No slider adjustments. Percentage depends on how well you play defense, the caliber of your opponent, random CPU AI, etc.

Most games end up with both teams usually shooting in the 40-50 percent range, which is pretty damn accurate, if you ask me.

Give ID 2003 a try. I think you'll dig it.

P.S.: I have no problem with the atmosphere in ID 2003. The commentary is the best of the big three NBA games this year, so that definitely contributes to the atmosphere.

Sound nice. I was just wondering on the shooting percentages because I've seen games where you can play terrific defense and still teams shoot over 60%(NBA2K2, old Live Series). But in the same sense I don't want to hold the Kings or Mavericks to 20% shooting if I'm playing with the Nuggets or Bulls. Does ID 2003 have this balance?

Could you ID owners describe the franchise mode for me? How's the trade/GM AI? Even though the presentation may not be on 2K3's level, is the franchise mode believeable (realistic)?
