What would Kobe's game be like if MJ never existed?

Hate to start another Kobe thread, but I believe this to be an interesting question. We all know the Kobe patents everything to the way he chews gum after MJ; If Michael Jeffrey Jordan would have never been born back in the winter of 1963 in Brooklyn, who would Kobe patent his game after? Would he even make the NBA? If he did, would we talk about Kobe as Magic-nesque, as in Magic Johnson? Would we get on him for trying too hard to please us all with fancy passes and his lack of defense? Your opinions, please.

What if Erving wasn't around for Jordan to look at in awe?

What if there was no sea for Moses to part?

What if I wasn't scratching my crotch right now?

This, like nearly all other what ifs, is absolutely pointless and stupid.

But Jordan doesnt play like Erving. He has the same athleticism etc but everything Kobe does is almost a mirror image of MJ. His shooting technique is almost identical, the way he runs backwards after hitting a shot, his crossover dribble, his chewing, his walk. EVERYTHING!

The only thing he doesnt have is the fadeaway jumper. Kobe's is nice and he try's to be like mike but MJ's turnaround is just toooooo sweet! Oh and Kobe dunks differently, he has the aggresiveness MJ had but not the grace and creativity.

If you knew anything about Mike, he followed David Thompson growing up. Michael Jordan would still be Michael Jordan w'out Dr. J.

"Since when did Magic not play defense???"

Hate to break it to you, but Magic was never a great defender. Never was a shutdown, in-your-face guy, wasn't a big stealer, wasn't a big blocker. You could probably make the case that he was a good low-post defender...but that's about it. This is partly why he's not the greatest ever. MJ played BOTH ends of the court, and played it at the TOP. That's my opinion...
