Dirk Nowitzki is a better player than

larry bird.

i know alot of people may think i'm smoking something, but hear me out.

besides the passing skills of larry bird, i would take Nowitzki over larry bird in a new york minute.

Dirk is a better overall offensive player than larry bird and he's becoming a better rebounder than larry bird.

if dirk played on those great boston celtic's team like larry did, the result would still be the same for the city of boston, championships.

larry bird was a great player don't get me wrong, but larry also was a product of being on good teams.

the facts are facts, dirk can now be compared to larry bird.

Look, you obviously like Dirk (or think highly of him) and because of that you should realize that comparing him to Larry Bird is the worst thing to do. Its not fair to either Bird or Nowitzki. And you cant simply ignore the passing. Bird is on the short list of best passers ever.

Dirk: 22 points, 46.3% FG, 2.5 assists, 8.5 boards, 1 steal, 1.1 block
Bird: 24 points, 49.7% 6.3 assists, 10 boards, 1.7 steal, .8 block

Dirk = 6 times in the playoffs, 5 time All-star
Bird = 12 times in the playoffs, 10 time All-star

If Dirk keeps this pace up, wins a few titles, continues going to the playoffs and all-star games, then you might have an argument.

Open this thread back up in five-six years.

I understand that, but I was using stats to argue that Bird is still the better player.

Plus the playoff sucess and all-star games, Dirk has a long way to go.
