Pierce: "Trade the 7th pick for a star"

C'mon Paulie, the 7th pick and fillers isn't enough to get a JO or KG type player.

Funny, the last time someone said something similar to this (publicly) was Vince Carter when he told the Raptors to trade the 4th pick for a veteran. OF course, that 4th pick turned out to be Chris Bosh.

And there was also the comment by Toine about how Pierce should leave Boston. I think it's only matter of time until he's gone.

You know what, if Im Indiana I;d be happy to to JO for a 5th-10th pick with expiring or 1 yr left contracts, and obviously a young big man, possibly Jefferson, so that i can rebuild cuz their cap is BRUTAL and their team isnt too good so why not...

      Boston doesnt have that.

Wally has 4 years left making 11+ million per year.
Raef has 3 years left making 10+ million per year.

It would have to be something like 7th pick + [at least one of] Al Jefferson + Delonte West + Gerald Green to bring in a star. But of course that team is probably gonna have to take on a bad contract, Raef or Wally, to make salaries so it downgrades the package.

If anyone's going...it'll be Pierce. Ainge is trying to build the team up, he isn't going to trade the 7th when he can grab another young guy.

I could actually see Boston trading up to take Roy to be Pierce's replacement in their youth movement. Or taking Marcus Williams.

That'd be dumb for the Celtics. Pierce had an incredible and underappreciated season.

Which would be the perfect time that you'd trade him.

And any fan of the Celtics knows Pierce is the next to go.

It's not "if" it's "when"...we all know that.

Re: Pierce: "Trade the 7th pick for a star"

Whatever he said was just common sense... he said he would "at least explore the option" which would be stupid not to. Personally, I would not give up Jefferson, Green, and West in a package for anyone. I don't know if I'd even want to give up a combination of two of them.

Maybe for LeBron, but not KG or Oneal.

I can't really imagine a situation where the C's would get value for Paul Pierce.

^Rarely will any team get equal value for a star, but when your considering trading a star in the first place, I dont think the team is targeting equal value as much as other factors..
