    Jason Terry

    will Dallas resign him?

    should they?

he is going to command a lot of interest on the market (probably from Cleveland for one), but Dallas should really try to re-sign him imo if at all possible.

I would definitely re-sign him if I was Dallas. He showed glimpses of how great he can be during the Finals, he just needed to show it a lil more consistently.

They better resign him he had a great season and a great playoff run.

However D Harris is pretty good too and maybe they could get another pg in the free agent market.

Definently resign him. He is a big time player. It's just unfortunate that he couldn't get anything to fall in Game 6.

If he is not resigned Dallas is crazy.

He made like 7.5 Mil this year...aand after his play in the playoffs and finals...he deserves more than that...he could command a Larry Hughes/Gilber Arenas type salary...and to the guy who said he needed to show more consistency...nobody was more consisten than him in the Finals...not even Dirk...he was the Mavs MVP in the finals and Dirk was a no show when it counted the most....but thats over and done with and Im sure he'll resign with Dallas

If Ben Wallace will be available this offseason, I would probably go with him than Jason. If DAL have a potential Tony Parker in the current lineup, there is no need to sign Jason for that much money. The rivals of DAL have big men that can really dropped 30 points against them and they would need Ben to slow them down or at least dropped there FG%. Dirk and Damp tandem ain't gonna stop a healthy Tim and Amare. Scoring for DAL is not a problem, they have Dirk, Josh and Harris for that one. Since Avery is a defensive minded coach, he might as well have a defensive anchor.

Picture this with Ben in the lineup, Ben can guard Amare, Dirk on Marion, Josh on Nash against PHX. Ben on Tim, Josh on Ginobili, Dirk on Horry/Finley/Bowen against Tim. With Ben, Damp, Mbenga, and Diop taking turns in watching the low post, Ginobili's desire to dance down there would be intimidated by the current defensive player of the year. Not only that, if DAL will once again face MIA, they won't need to triple team Shaq anymore, Ben should be enough with the declining Shaq. But that is my take, Ben's defensive intensity in this current NBA system is hard to pass.

Big Ben would give the Mavs 2 players in the starting rotation that are liabilities on offense. I'd hate to see Diop and Wallace up front. They'd be hell defensively though.

Running 4 offensive players that can't stop either Amare or Tim is like making 2 points and giving up two points at the same time. 1 playmaker (no, not the playmaker we have here in OS), 2 offensive players, and two defensive players are enough. That would put DAL up there with SA and DET as defensive teams. Scoring will dropped though, but that would really make them serious contenders for the title. They can stop anyone and it would also put Josh in the spotlight as the #2 option.

I thought about this guy after the NBA Finals and realized he was free-agent. He would be a great outside shooter to compliment LBJ down in Cleveland. The guy isn't afraid to take big shots and he actually played better in Dallas than he did in Atlanta even though his scoring was down. But I just don't see Dallas letting him get away. I'm not sure how much money he will command on the open market but I'm sure Dallas would be his 1st option and if that guy Mark Cuban really likes a player he usually pays up. I expect his name will surface in 3-4 places but he'll eventaully end up back in Dallas.

If the Cavs can't get Terry then maybe a good 2nd option is Sam Cassell.

With the leadership he is currently giving to LAC, he might not be available. Good news though, Sprewell is.

Terry is out unless Ferry can swing a trade...its not gonna be possible because we only have the MLE and the BAE...and Terry made more than that last year in Dallas BEFORE he proved himself in the playoffs...@ worse for him...his contract stays around 7-8 mil a year...@ best..he gets 10 plus...

I agree with the original poster Ben Wallace would be another center on Dallas that doesn't score but play defense. They already have 2-3 defensive big guy's and they got to the finals with that combination. Adding Ben Wallace might improve their defense but they were good enough already this year to win a championship. I think they ranked 7th overall and if you take away some of their offense or speed then they become less effective and teams will then matchup better vs them. The Mavs biggest advantage was their speed and quickness. If they lose that by letting Terry go they might be forced to play at a snail like pace and I'm sure most Mavs fans would hate that style of play. They also become less versatile which was not a problem for them this year.
