The Ten Worst Contracts in the NBA(Long)

The Nene/Kmart thread has inspired me, and yes I do have too much time on my hands.

Not all of these deals are cap busters for their teams, but any GM who takes on one of these contracts is either a John Daily esque gambler or insane. I was going to take a shot at Zeke here, but that would be prosaic.

The numbers here are rough estimates of what is still remaining on the contract of these players, please correct any errors I might have made, and of course dessenting opinions are welcome.

    Honorable Mentions:

Jamal Crawford- 5yr/43mil- Only on the Knicks could his deal be considered
    an attractive one.

Antoine Walker- 5yr/46mil- If there were 2 years left on his deal it would be
ok, but 5 years left on a 12/5 guy who hits 30 this summer
    is...

Shaquille O'Neal- His career speaks for itself, he has the trophy, 1 or 2 more
and the deal was more than worth it, but 4yr/80mil- for a
injury prone, 34 year old Center is a dicey proposition.

Adonal Foyle- 4yr/37mil- Edged out by his teammate Dunleavy only
because I didn't want 4 offensively challenged Centers
    listed in a row.

    The Top Ten

#10. Mike Dunleavy- 4yr/37mil- The light may still come on for Mike, but he
had best be saving his money up, because he won't
see a better contract than this for the rest of his
    career.

#9. Tyson Chandler- 5yr/55mil- Career scoring average 7pts/game. Ah,
to be 7ft tall and have a modicum of coordination.

#8. Samuel Dalembert- 5yr/52mil- See Tyson Chandler.

#7. Eric Dampier - 5yr/50mil- "Hey Tyson, Samuel keep up the good
work, and you'll get another phatty deal just like you
have now. Its good to be tall"

#6. Darius Miles- 4yr/34mil- The numbers aren't that bad, but there
are some other... issues at play. Is Darius really only
24? It seems like he's been killing coaches for 15
    years now.

#5 Carlos Boozer- 4yr/47mil- Like Darius, its not about the numbers, but
when you have a reputation as a backstabber, and a
malingerer, teams are going to be hesitant about
    bringing you into the fold.

#4. Steve Francis- 3yr/49mil- Still hasn't gotten over being separated
from his boy Cutty Mobes. Hey Franchise, I know you
guys were tight, but come on dude, turn the page.

#3. Stephon Marbury-3yr/60mil- You know how some players are glue
guys, guys who bring cohesion and chemistry to a
squad. Well Starbury isn't one of those guys. Who
would Knicks fans rather have, native son Step, or
Frenchy Tony Parker. I think you know, mon ami.

#2. Kenyon Martin- 5yr/70mil- Warrior spirit in "Mr. Glass" body. 16/9,
1 block, guy when he's on, is that good enough? I
guess, but you want a 14 mil a year guy to bring
some leadership, intangibles, be better than a career
47% shooter from the PF position, and feel free to
not get suspended for conduct detrimental during the
    playoffs.

#1 Zach Randolph- 5yr/73mil- Pluses- Can be a 20/10 guy when he's on
Minuses- Another PF who shoots below 48% for his
career. Bar none the worse Black Hole in the League
The next time he guards someone will be the first.
Hasn't blocked a shot since 9th grade. Still
struggling to come back from mircofracture surgury.
Now for a couple of understatements about Zach.
Has difficulty accepting coaching, and has made
some questionable off the court decisions.

I agree on the Zach Randolph comment. POR was in such fear they are letting go of another Jermaine O'Neal that they are willing to do anything for this guy. Although I would not mind POR trading Zach for either Francis or Marbury. At least there are probably 3 more years left in thier contract (I think).

I would not feel Shaq is overpaid though. Because of him, Wade's progress was a lot faster than the players drafted before him. His presence alone even at an old age commands respect on defense. Ask DAL, they worried too much on Shaq only to realized, he was never the threat all along. It was the "referees".

The mavericks where up 2 games to none and had a 13 point lead with half a quarter left in the third game. There was no excuse for letting the heat back into that game, and all they had to do is stop one player and make their CLUTCH freethrows, they did neither. In the series they hit a high percentage of freethrows but not the important ones which they blew several with under one minute left in clutch situations.

To stop shaq was to hack a shaq and put themselves in foul trouble, they fouled shaq in overtime and wasted there foul on him which would have done 5 times to send him to the line.

                        So that racked up their
foul trouble, adding to that they couldn't stop wade going to the basket and could only slow him by knocking the hell out of him. No one on the mavericks had the balls and or the ability to do the same.

Then to top it off they called a timeout to sink any chances to get a good shot off. The lost, they choked and they whined just like you. Their coach and them made an excuse to themselves on why they where lost and would lose instead on focusing on how to win.

Whiners always lose and always have excuses. The mavericks have no one to blame but the person they see in the mirror. They where outcoached, out hussled and outplayed and thought they had won the entire thing before they had. The fat lady sang to the mavericks after they went up 2-0, but the heat had on earplugs.

No where in her quote did she whine ...plus that was soooo useless this is about contracts not the playoffs ..anyways awesome list pretty funny as well and yes if your gonna put in kobe and dirk then you HAVE to include tmac.

and i also agree that shaq is overpayed but at same time he most definitly helped wade out immensly theres absolutely no way miami would have won it without shaq so i guess thats the price you pay for a championship.
