If you have Xbox, and value the most realistic on-court action, then ID 2003 is the best choice. Otherwise, NBA 2k3 is. Live 2003 just doesn't qualify as a sim, although it's fun.Comment

NBA 2k3 is sweet. It can be cumbersome right out of the box, but everything you need (sliders) is provided by Sega to make the game awesome. Definitely worth a rental at the very least...Comment

I have NBA 2k3. Used to like it a lot and I've played quite a few games of it. It's best on Xbox Live, but it's not very good as a singleplayer game. Unfortunately, the game has flaws that run MUCH deeper than the sliders. For instance you can run into a defender without any penalty. There are absolutely no offensive fouls outside of the paint, there are no pushing fouls, and blocking fouls send you or the opponent to the line ALL the time. Even when they shouldn't, because the foul is called before you even release the ball or go up in the air for a shot attempt. That's just one problem, yet it's a fundamental flaw in the game. The defense is just not aggressive, and the steals are way too one-dimensional. There's not enough of a mix between pass interceptions and stealing the ball from reaching in. Not to mention the defensive AI is some of the worst I've seen. Players aren't double teamed when they should be, there's very little ball pressure, etc. Sliders just don't fix these areas and these are my complaints. I hope they get this stuff right next year, but I doubt it because these are problems rooted in the engine they're using. They're not cosmetic flaws that can be tweaked or anything just to get them right.Comment

ID2003 has the better gameplay, no doubt but 2K3 is easily the better overall video game. 2K3 beats Live in almost every category except the fun factor. NBA2K3 has the best immersion factor. It makes you feel like you're playing in a real NBA game. ID2003's NBA atmosphere sucks big time compared to NBA Jam TE. NBA Live has a good atmosphere but not as good as 2K3's. 2K3 has the most realistic NBA atmosphere and a much better Franchise mode.-Rocky Balboa"Maybe I can't win. Do you guys think ID's gameplay is better than nba2k2 on Dreamcast. I'm not sure these things can't be fixed. I think people forget how good the A.I. is in that game.Comment

ID2003 has better AI than any other b-ball game.
2K3, after sliders + edits + team settings is about 80% as good as ID (which makes it a better game IMO, as it kills ID for atmosphere)
2K3 with fixes is much better than 2K2, except for the post game.Comment

Well I have both NBA2k3 & ID2003. I too think ID2003 has a slight edge in gameplay over NBA2k3, but overall, without question NBA2k3 is the better value. Take into account NBA2k3 has a DEEEEP franchise mode, a very detailed and realistic atmosphere, and here is where the value of NBA2k3 really shoots through the roof, ONLINE play. ID2003, while it's a good game, it just doesn't provide enough in terms of value. I can't comment on LIVE203, I don't have it and I only played it once. LIVE2003 was not my cup of tea.

Can the same 5-10 people STOP going into NBA 2K3 threads to comment on how in love they are with ID 2003? I mean this kid asks why should I buy NBA 2K3, tell me some good things about it, not hey I want a alternate choice. If ID 2003 was so damn good, then 95% of the messages on this board wouldn't be about NBA 2K3. It's the same 5-10 people on here that are in love with ID 2003, and that's great, love your game, but don't try to make everyone else love it with you, especially when they're not asking about it.Comment

^its cause ppl love the game so much,that they want to spread out the word and tell you to stop playing ****ty games such as live and 2k games and get an xbox with nba inside drive 2003play it,more then ONE time,and i guarantee that you will love the game
