No it isn't. It's true. The majority who have played the game love it. To say this game isn't good is just rubbish.

Look at Gamerankings and look at what others have to say.

Not every critic is the same. Metacritic offers aggregated game reviews from the top critics, and our own METASCORE pinpoints at a glance how each game was reviewed.

    Enough said.

it doesn't matter what gamerankings says, i know a lot of people that were not impressed with NBA2K3. While I'm at it, another problem is that its way too easy. By my 5th game i was whipping the computer by 25 on the highest level.

        Hi Neo

I am like you, a big ID fan. I think you read my posts commenting on how good that game is.

I have to say though, some of the issues you raise about 2K3 (which I also criticised) are rectified by fixing game tempo's + double team settings. (By putting Ostertag to never, Malone gets more doubles etc etc)

After a few weeks, I hated 2K3 to the point of almost giving it away. It ****ted me no end that the AI would simply NOT fast break and would double team the wrong players. It just ruined the game.

After changing the settings though...it rocks. Seriously rocks.

For example, as the game originally was...I could drive to the hoop v New Jersey and have my shot rejected. Instead of them haring off down the court, Kidd would walk it up like an old man...and I could make a coffee and something to eat before bothering to even try and get back on D. It was horrible.

Looking at the game settings, I noticed New Jersey's game tempo was set to only slightly higher than Utah's . I changed them to almost maximum tempo + about 85% max for fast break.

I played them recently during my season, drove into the lane...Mutumbo rejected my shot...Kidd raced down the court...alley hoop to Martin...freaking cool. I watched it over and over and still can't believe how different the game is.

What's cool about the settings is, if I can get back on D, they revert to a half court game (as they do in the real NBA)...so it's not like non stop fast breaks etc. It's very realitsic...only when I am caught out on D. They racked up about a dozen fast break points on me, which was a big jump on the ZERO i was used to.

All teams styles can be adjusted.

By increasing the game tempo I also notice I have now had about only one or two of "those" back court violations ib about 10 games (PG passes to PF...back to PG...to PF...yawn...back court violation). This is in contrast to about 4 a game I used to see. Again...huge difference.

The game is also much harder. For example, again with NJ, they are much, much harder to beat when they are haring down the court and Martin etc are finishing with dunks. In a half court set, relying on jumpers, it doesn't suit them.

I'd have to rate 2K3's AI at about 80-90% of ID2003's.(After sliders) ID still is superior (2K3 has much better isolation plays though which is very true of the NBA)

Given that 2K3's stadiums and sounds are infinitely superior to ID, I'd have to agree that 2K3 is the better game overall. I genuinely enjoy seeing the different stadiums and hearing the different music played at Indianna, MSG, the Key Arena etc...very cool.

ID 2003 is a great game, but the atmosphere really needs some work. I have had games at home, where I have rallied from 10 down with a few minutes left...and the crowd is STILL asleep. The end of season presentation...ie a mere two seconds after the championship..is also dissapointing. Hopefully they can improve on these things.

I simply don't like how linear and stiff players move in Sega games.

No surprise, the same people pumping up ID 2003. The game doesn't touch NBA 2K3. It doesn't even touch NCAA 2K3. Granted it does some nice things on the court, but the game is the slowest of the 3, even with that game speed slider maxed out. It's mad boring, all the things that 2K3 does right, don't even exist in ID. The atomsphere is better, the graphics are better, the sound is better, the franchise mode is better. I've said before I'm a edit freak, and ID has more edit options, but its much easier and faster to do in 2K3. Bottom line, 2K3 is a more polished game than ID. I don't care how much you love ID, its very obvious that 2K3 is a much more polished game, overall. Gameplay is important, and 2K3 may come 2nd in that to ID, but 2K3 does everything else better. In fact, Live 2003 even does a lot of things better than ID. I had ID 2002, and to me 2003 was the same game with more fluid animations, the sliders, and a franchise mode. ID is a good game, but if you want to be honest with yourself for a minute, overall 2k3 is on another level. Period.
