Re: Greatest team of the greatest players
Only going with guys that I've seen play.
PG: Ervin "Magic" Johnson - A 6'9" point guard who could see the whole floor. Probably the smartest basketball player I've seen play.
SG: Michael Jordan - Trying to stop this guy from scoring was like trying to stop the Sun from rising in the morning. "Money" was the ultimate player. Want to guard him one-on-one? Then he score in your face. Want to try to double him? He'll find the open man. Want to back off of him so he won't drive to the basket? He'll bury a trey in your face. Want to try to wear him down defensively? He's up for the challenge. No weakness in his game. Clearly, the best player I've seen play basketball.
SF: Larry Bird - Just to summarize it...he's Michael Jordan minus the atheltic ability.
PF: Karl Malone - Amazing how a guy who had limited post move become the second all-time leading scorer in NBA history. Malone just knew where to go on the court to get his baskets. Of course playing along side John Stockton as your PG AND having a automatic mid range jumpshot doesn't hurt. Malone also is probably one of the most under rated defenders in NBA history next to Scottie Pippen. Yes, he's never won a Defensive Player of the Year award BUT his strength and knowledge of playing position defense frustated his opponets.
C: Shaquille O'Neal - If you would have asked me about 7 years ago who was the best center I saw play I'd gave you Hakeem Olajuwon. BUT that was during a time O'Neal didn't reach his peek yet. Jordan is the best player I've seen play BUT the most dominating player is Shaq. In his prime Shaq was everything you wanted in a Center. He dominated the paint offensively and defensively. And when he started to learn how to pass out of the double team made him unstoppable. However, his one big weakness is his free throws.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: Greatest team of the greatest players
PG: Jason Kidd- This was close with Oscar Robertson, and I would say Robertson is the much better player overall, but in terms of being a pure point guard I would go with Kidd.
- Nuff said
- Great shooter, great hustler. Perhaps Pippen is a more complete player, but Bird is Bird.
- With Jordan, Bird, and Chamberlain this team doesn't need scoring, it needs a balls to the wall defender and rebounder, and as such I give Rodman the nod over Malone.
- Amazing scorer and much better on defense than he was ever given credit for.
- For my money, he is the best 6th man ever, narrowly edging out Vinnie Johnson.

Re: Greatest team of the greatest players
Oh geez I knew the same suspects MJ, Magic and Bird would be on the list for the majority of the posters here when I saw this thread title without checking out the response.
