A couple basic questions on stats rules

I'm looking over game results from the finals to figure out how they handle somethings.

    Now - I notice this:

    Code:
    <table class="pbpTable" style="border-collapse: collapse;" border="1" bordercolor="#575757" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr class="pbpRowE"><td> Haslem Jump Shot: Missed</td><td align="center" nowrap="nowrap">10:20</td><td> </td> </tr> <tr class="pbpRowO"> <td> Walker Jump Shot: Missed</td><td align="center" nowrap="nowrap">10:18</td><td> </td> </tr> <tr class="pbpRowE"> <td> Walker Rebound (Off:1 Def:)</td><td align="center" nowrap="nowrap">10:18</td><td> </td></tr></tbody></table>
The timestamp for the 2nd jump shot is the same as the rebound below... It sounds to me like he went for a tip-in and missed. Would I be correct here? If you go for a tip-in on a missed shot - does it count as a rebound?

also - what exactly is a team reboud - as opposed to individual rebounds?

Can someone also explain to me how team fouls work as opposed to personal fouls?

    Thanks for any help here.

Now I would wait for someone else to confirm my response since I am not sure, but I think a tip-in attempt counts as both a rebound and a shot attempt.

A team rebound is a rebound that isn't grabbed by an individual player. The only example I know of is when a missed shot goes straight out of bounds by an air ball. It can also be when a shot misses and goes up and over the backboard, which is also out of bounds.

Team fouls are just the amount of total fouls a team has, not counting offensive fouls. So if Kidd and Carter both have one reaching in foul and one loose ball foul, and nobody else on the team has a foul, then the Nets would have 4 team fouls total (2 each on Kidd and Carter). But lets say Kidd has two reaching in fouls and Carter has 2 offensive fouls, then the Nets would only have 2 total team fouls because offensive fouls don't count as team fouls (am I right on this guys?)

Yes, everything you said was right.

I'll add I think another way a "team rebound" can be counted is when there are loose ball fouls, over the back fouls where there is a foul called before a rebound can be snagged.

Don't forget that grabbing possession after a blocked shot counts as a rebound, too. If somebody blocks the shots into the stands, thats a team rebound for the team that had their shot blocked (I think)

Also, heres the scoop on team fouls:

        Section V--Free Throw Penalty Situations
        a. Each team is limited to four team fouls per regulation period without addi-tional penalties. Common fouls charged as team fouls, in excess of four, will be penal-ized by one free throw attempt plus a penalty free throw attempt.
        (1) The first four common fouls committed by a team in any regulation peri-od shall result in the ball being awarded to the opposing team on the side-line nearest where play was interrupted. The ball shall be awarded no nearer to the baseline than the free throw line extended.
        (2) The first three common fouls committed by a team in any overtime peri-od, shall result in the ball being awarded to the opposing team on the sideline nearest where play was interrupted. The ball shall be awarded no nearer to the baseline than the free throw line extended.
        (3) If a team has not committed its quota of four team fouls during the first ten minutes of any regulation period, or its quota of three team fouls dur-ing the first three minutes of any overtime period, it shall be permitted to incur one team foul during the last two minutes without penalty.
        (4) During any overtime period, common fouls charged as team fouls in excess of three, will be penalized by one free throw plus a penalty free throw attempt.
        (5) Personal fouls which are flagrant, punching, elbowing, away-from-the-play, or clear-path-to-the-basket will carry their own separate penalties and are included in the team foul total.
        (6) Personal fouls committed during a successful field goal attempt, which result in one free throw attempt being awarded, will not result in an addi-tional free throw attempt if the penalty situation exists.
        b. A maximum of three points may be scored by the same team on a success-ful two-point field goal attempt.
        c. A maximum of four points may be scored by the same team on a successful three-point field goal attempt.
