I can't believe people were trying to debate this. Argentina and Spain '06 would give USA 92 more problems than '06 USA.

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
Exactly why a college coach has no business being in the international seating. I'm not bashing him but he's not the first pick I would have chosen. I guess it's still early though because there is suppose to be 3 years. Coach K really is a disappointment for not making wiser moves. I mean, Brad Miller was still suited up. I didn't see too much Dwight or Elton. I don't know or understand that one.
It's quite weird because right after watching it on NBATV, there was this guy suited up in a Celtics warmup who must have been one of the older coaches for the Boston Celtics. He was talking about players trying to take charges and flop. It looked like it was a rather old film. Thing is so many players try to do that on not only the defensive end but the offensive end. There definitely needs to be a cleansing and enlightenment of the game. Too many things wrong with how the USA team played that game. Upsetting to know that it might even get worse as the years continue.......Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
He didnt miss them I agree.
He also didnt call any plays.
He also didnt sub very well if at all.
He also went away from the gameplan he had in the beginning of this all.
None of those guys should've played alot of minutes.
Fresh bodies were worn because he relied on the wrong thing too much.Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
I guess the loss to Greece ends all conversations to this topic. I do n ot evne know why "their prime" was even added to the topic. I mean the biggest stars of the bunch carmelo, lebron, and wade are in their prime. And if any one believes they are not they are mistaken. Because none of them will get better than were they are now. Im not saying they maxed out but they are damn close. If there is vast improvment for any of them that would be unhuman. Plain and simple the USA should have had better players. I mean come on Brad Miller, Kirk Hinrich, Antwan Jamison should haven't even been honorable mentions. When u think about it only Carmelo has a strong enough jumper to compete with these strong zones these int teams play. Wade's is good but it aint that good. Lebron and Wade we all know need to get to the basket to be very productive and honestyl that is not gonna happen to much in international play. I was really rooting for these guys. I am tired of seeing these modest foreign teams beat the USA every time. It is sickening. I wanna know does all this losing bother the players who pass up on it every year? I know a lot of players want to spend times with there family but they have enough money to bring there family with them. I mean i can not see team USA losing if Shaq,Garnett, Duncan, McGrady, Iverson, Kidd, etc playing together. Colangelo sucks and i kinda like that they lost to prove this guy does not know what he is doing. That was all you heared Colangelo has done a great job making this team. And its funny now how these ESPN writes come out the closet now saying they knew America was going to lose. Let me stop writing because i can go on forever about my problems with THE NBA AND TEAM USA!!Originally posted by SullyAs for this thread, it's ridiculous. If anyone knows the posting history of our buddy Raymond, then they'd know not to take this thread seriously. They didnt pick AI, Kidd went before, Tmac's back cant take a full nba season carrying trash and then 3 years in olympics, KG declined because he didnt want to go, Duncan got dogged the last time he went so he said he wont ever go back, he hates fiba.Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
And Shaq cannot run anymore. Honestly, by the time Olympics arrive, Shaq is already contemplating retirement or already retired. Garnett has a lot of rest seeing as he hasn't seen playoffs in the last 2 or 3 years, he should represent USA.Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
a more fair comparison would be the 96 team. well nah not really, with shaq, d-rob, and hakeem at center, that alone would kill 06's chances of winning.
how about 00 vs. 06? that would be interesting.
00 featured:
PG- GP, Kidd, Tim Hardaway
SG- Allan Houston, Ray Allen, Steve Smith
SF- Vince Carter, Shareef Abdur-Rahim
PF- Kevin Garnett, Vin Baker (pre-suck), Antonio McDyess (pre-injury)
C- Alonzo Mourning (pre-kidney)
Wow look at the 2 guards on that team. What do they have in common? They can all shoot the hell out of the ball.Comment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
That team also had trouble in the Olympics and was a missed shot away from losing to Lithuania. That being said, I think the 2006 team is much better than this one. If we want to talk about soft players, look no further than Allan Houston and Abdur-Rahim. Both could put up numbers, but short one fluke shot for Houston in the playoffs, neither could deliver when it mattered.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Re: USA Basketball '92 vs '06 (in their prime)
most of the 92 guys were at the decline of their careers, with the exception of Jordan and Malone. The rest of the guys were there based on name more than ability.
The '06 team is more talented and athletic. Basketball continues to get better with time, so it's hard to compare eras."We're winners baby! ****in' winners! pushin it to the max, cuz thats how we roll!!!" ~ BrucieComment
