    Anyone else think...

    The Hornets are going to be a good team in 06-07?

    Projected Lineup:

    PG - Chris Paul
    SG - Desmond Mason
    SF - Peja Stojakovic
    PF - David West
    C - Tyson Chandler

    Key bench:
    G - Bobby Jackson
    F - Rasual Butler
    C - Marc Jackson

    Rookies who could contribute:
    C - Hilton Armstrong (12th overall)
    PF - Cedric Simmons (15th overall)

    Yes they are in the West, but this team's ceiling is very high. I'm not expecting them to get home court in the playoffs or anything but I like them to make a good run at a playoff spot.

    Chris Paul was phenominal last season, as a rookie. David West had a breakout season, and is only going to get better. Tyson Chandler has a fresh start and could be heading towards a breakout year. Peja was back to regular form last season after getting out of Sac. Desmond Mason is a great all around contributor and will be great as a 4th or 5th option.

    Bobby Jackson might have some injury concerns, but he can play both guard positions and is a great offensive spark plug off the bench. Also with Jackson, Butler, Armstrong, and Simmons...they have a lot of depth, especially in the frontcourt.

    Anyone else think this could be a great year for them?

          Maybe my NBA pick...but I'm sure I'll have some big NFL prediction in the coming weeks...

                  They will probably be the trendy pick to surprise this season.. but for good reason. Besides getting a veteran outside shooter and a solid backup guard in Jackson, they also signed Jannero Pargo, and want to sign Brazilian rookie Marcus Vinicius.

                  Health/chemistry are the questions I have for the team. The West is going to be brutal this season, at least a couple of quality teams will be left out next April.

                  The Lakers will make the playoffs.

                          The burden on Paul is going to be staggering. Besides B Jax the rest of the players on that team are going to heavily dependant on Paul getting them quality shots. In that same vein, when the offense breaks down and they have to have someone create their own shot at the end of the shot clock it looks like Chris is the only guy who can get it done.

                          They can make a playoff push, but Bobbby Jackson must stay healthy and the rooks must make a solid contribution. If not Paul will wear down by seasons end and they will fade down the stretch again.

                              But even if they do fade down the stretch, I expect them to have more wins before that happens than last year so they still are in the playoffs.
