Practice? Practice?! We're talking about practice?

Yes, AI. Practice. You should try it sometime. Maybe you'll eventually learn how to make a jumpshot.

Re: Iverson....done?

Bubbachuck...you are 100% correct.

The zone rules change + Philly having so few shooters makes it VERY difficult for AI.

If you traded him to Boston for Pierce, AI would be MVP every year. The guy would rack up 10 assists a game with Walker, Delk etc all waiting to shoot three's.

If the other team didn't double him and stayed on the three shooter, he'd score 30 + a night easy on 45% shooting.

People don't understand just how limited Philly's offense is. Iverson is the victim of that.

Philly have one of the most double / triple teamed guys in NBA history...and yet they have complied a team with arguably the worst three point offense in the league.

Re: Iverson....done?

Hey guys you wanna know what's really wrong with AI??????...........nothin. The reason why he is playing the way he is playing is because he knows, especially the way the team is struggling, that jacking up 30 shots and making only 9 of them is not going to help there bad situation. He is trying to make the extra pass so that his TEAM can get some offense going. But it isn't working. Philly is struggling big time right now. On the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Ive been watching them and the way they are playing is terrible. The front court looks like s**** , they get beat by everybody. DC and Todd are way too slow and cant rebound nor block. The lack of an interrior presents is killing Philly. Philly offense sort of works like the Nets, they get there offense generated off of missed shots and blocks and go on fastbreaks. Now Philly isn't as dependent on fastbreaks as NJ is but they still basically work the same.

With no one to block or get rebounds, Philly is struggling for points. You know there interrior is weak when Bradley has a field day on your team damn near going for a triple double. Thats why AI is a little out of it cause he is fustrated. The lack of a 3pt shooter doesn't help neither. All of the Sixers, if you saw the game yesterday, were all crowd in the paint, which played into the hands of Dallas' zone D, therefore causing turnovers and bad shots. KVH being on the interrior on offense doesn't give him the opportunity to shoot the three.

How do they solve this problem???? I'll tell you. The Sixers 1st of need to make a trade. They have way too many guards and fowards. They need to get a young athletic Center or foward. Something like a Jonathan Bender or a Tony Battie type player, who doesn't require the ball and shot blocks as well as rebound. Second they need some 3pt shooting, they can go to free agency or trade to get this. They need someone like Dell Curry or a Brent Barry type player who can just flat out shoot, particularly a spot shooter. Another thing Larry can do to help spread the ball and create some offense is during certain times of a scoring slump have Aaron Mckie, the Sixers only pure jumpshooter, run the point, while KVH is on the floor and then create plays for them to get a good look at the three. If they can do this, then all is well and AI will play like the AI of old (very happy ) instead of having a fustrated (unhappy ) AI.

this the dumbest thing, huh? so you mean to tell me he can ONCE get to the hole like he used to? guess what...EVERYBODY DOESN'T PLAY ZONE. and if they do, NOT 100% OF THE TIME. now think more instead of just being one of AI's bitches.

*** ****, AI ain't done. He is NO WHERE near it even. He is just in a slump, it happenes to every player. Offtopic, I think VC is done, he won't be the same as he was before.

Re: Iverson....done?

Iverson is a great player, and even a greater player when with the right teammates. Iverson was at his best when his team went to the Finals thanks to a group of guys that use to run with him. Ratliff, Lynch, Hill, Ollie, Geiger, Jones, and even Pat Croce was a huge part of their past success. When with right role players (and management), Iverson and his Sixers are on fire! Too bad the fire went out.

Re: Iverson....done?

hello!? , Iverson is trying to prove he can be a team player to make the Olympic team. They talked about this on NBA 2 Night yesterday. He takes about 27 shots a game in his career. He's been taking around 20 during this experimental phase. Yes, it's hurting his team. Yes, he knows it's hurting his team. Yes, he needs help. But the problem is he's not shooting as much anymore. He's penetrating and dishing or swinging the ball around the perimeter. Let's also not forget that Iverson is still considered the top offensive player in the league, so when players like Van Horn are sucking, and you have no inside presence, how the hell are you supposed to take the ball to the hole? . Think about it..

No!, he's not done.

He's probably trying to stay healthy for the playoffs -- when the games actually matter. In the east, he can play 80% and the 76-ers can still make the playoffs. Why risk it?

Re: Iverson....done?

First off it is absurd to say that because someone does not dunk they have lost it. Newsflash: there s more to basketball than dunking.
Iverson can get to where he wants on the court less and lesss because Larry Brown is not interested in scoring; he just wants bums that hustle and fall all over the floor- playing the right way as he puts it.
Allen is far and away the beast guard at his size in the league. Larry Brown has done him a grave disservice by removing the foundation Croche put in place during his tenure there. Remember with Pat running the front office they went to the Finals. With Brown running it (King is just Brown s puppet) they went out like a light a year later.
Iverson knows the team sucks so why should he kill himself?
I hope he doesn t play on the Olympic team either. I am VERY proud of Shaq for sticking by his guns and not playing because Jackson won t coach and I think Allen should do the same because Brown IS there. Let s not forget this is the same coach that ALWAYS takes shots at Allen in the press when things go wrong instead of addressing Allen privately.
My hope is Larry Brown leaves SOON. He is one of the poorer player coaches in the league (ask Danny Manning, David Robinson and Reggie Miller) he is a poor motivator (note that ALL his pro teams quit on him eventually), he is NEVER satisfied (the Sixers once won a game by 12 and he said he STILL saw room for improvement..) and ALL his stars learn to hate him (see his Nuggets tenure).
He is bad for the team and his GM decisions conytinue to get worse- [Brian Skinner is having the best season of his career so what does Brown do? Bring in another 4 with no range and a strong inside game. Why didn't HE get Posey?!? The Sixers NEED a athletic 3!!! The Sixers need a center so what does he do? Signs a pg that got cut by the Nuggets- Who NEED a PG!!!! What is he doing?!?
To sum up Larry brown s GM knowledge do you know who he said HE would have to with the first pick in the draft this past year? Juan Dixon.
I wouldn t try either if I was Allen. Not till they get him a real team and more importantly a real coach and GM.

Re: Iverson....done?

Iverson is going though the same thing MJ went throuhg his first 4 years in the league, a above average team with very little heart and he's trying to do alot for them.

any true basketball fan (observer) can see Iverson is not a ball hog, and is a, at best, average, shooter. he passes the ball just as much as he shoots, but like 84'-88' JORDAN, was relied on by his teammates to get them outta trouble. which meant for his to take the shots they have little chances of getting or making.

Iverson is tired, mentally and physically. how many 6'0'' 165 guards do you see taking to the hole as often as he does. Steve Francis is 6'3, 185, and has Mobley, Nash has Finley, & Dirk, and Bibby has Christie, Peja, & and Turk.

AI, when all is said and done, will be one of the top 25 greatest players of all-time...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

MT_Nuts, I agree with you totally except for two things. One, Larry got on his players about winning by 12 to certain teams cause they were teams they should of blown out. If you play the nuggets and beat them by eight, then that wouldn't cut it. Cause good teams beat them by 18 on a bad night. He's right, there D was never that good, the only reason why they went on the streak is because, they had a light schedule and didn't play any real tough teams. Now that they are playing some good teams, there bad defense is now getting exposed. Anytime Shawn Bradley comes in and have a field day, your team is in real trouble.

Two, Larry is a good coach. Just a little stubborn, he should have definetly had place AI, around jumpshooters and athletic fowards and centers. His stubborness is why players get tired of him. As, for his GM skilsl, He can speak for himself.
