In no means am I calling these players overrated. In fact, those posters are insane. My real problem is with people who just get so offended if people talk down about basketball (or any sport) way back when. It just feels like people are trying to hold onto an era that unfortunately just isnt there anymore.

People are too sensitive. I'm sick of the whole "Back then, you wouldn't be able to get away with ______". Yeah, that's back then.

I don't know if I'm coming across as one of those "youngsters", as I've watched basketball since I was 5 years old (1993), but it's just plain annoying sometimes.

Exactly. What they said about alot of the players is crazy but it's really not that big of a deal like some people make it out to be.

I think it's just because they never experienced exactly what those players had to go through and what the competition was like back then. It's kind of crazy to hear stuff like this on the real. MJ was never overrated to me. Pippen didn't get his just dues. Stuff like this is best left to the dummies to figure out for themselves. Funny stuff.

First, let me just say that i'm a guy that loves history of any kind. In fact i'm going through a phase in life where i'm collecting old NFL broadcasts so it's not like i'm one of those myopic people that think everything new is better but....

I think one reason for some of those posters calling Kareem overrated is probably because they most associate him with his later years when he was slow, couldn't hustle as much, and relied almost exclusively on the skyhook. Before then he was an extremely dynamic player but sometimes people can get a bad impression by being exposed to only the downside of one's career.

As for air23 he does seem to have a thing for MJ BUT he also has an appreciation for the game's past which is rare to see on most NBA forums online. So while he may have a fixation on Jordan at least he has a healthy respect and love for the game.
