So in a way, this kind of makes Laettner Duke's version of Jordan. That's sadComment

Ex-Duke player reportedly makes bid to buy Grizzlies
The Commercial Appeal, citing team insiders, reported the Grizzlies lost $40 million following the 2005-06 season, spurring Heisley to try to sell his majority share.
If he's successful in buying the majority share of the Grizzlies, Davis plans to eliminate team president Jerry West's position in a cost-cutting measure, according to the newspaper.
Davis, who played in four Final Fours while at Duke from 1989-92, said he wants president Jerry West and Fratello to stay with the Grizzlies.
He added that he would like to sign West to a lifetime contract, though West said it was too early for him to decide on his long-range plans, "so we'll see what happens."Last edited by HMcCoy; 10-03-2006, 11:26 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: First Ferry...now
Tauntay and Floppier were more than enough reason for anyone to dislike the Grizzlies before this story broke. Tauntay’s still there, and with these two in the mix, I’d be shocked if they sold merchandise to anyone outside of Memphis.
Did anyone see Davis’ comments about Laettner coming out of retirement to play for the Grizzlies? He was dead serious, but everyone in the room laughed their asses off at him. Doyle may be an idiot most of the time, but that column was hilarious.
BTW, does stomping on an opposing player’s chest constitute “class”? What about cheating at cards with your teammates?Comment

Class also stems from donating a ****load of money to the school they graduated from to give towards scholarships, and student housing. I'm sure you have a list of Brian Davis's faults too. Or how bout the gay jokes that a crapload of UNC fans have all ready started up again? Talk about classless.President of the Devils Den

Besides, if giving money defines being “classy,” then there would be a whole load of slime balls that would fit into that category. I’m sure many white-collar criminals, like the Enron guys, have given lots of money to schools or charitable organizations. I don’t think you’d consider any of them class acts. I know the people whom they robbed wouldn’t.
Do you really want to talk about the “class” levels of the fan bases after you bring up Phil Ford over and over? Regardless of what provoked you to talk that trash, you really don’t have a leg to stand on when talking about class.
Basically, all anyone needs to know about the levels of class between Dook and Carolina fans can be found at the schools’ respective message boards. Like IC or not, there’s a level of class on those boards that the Dook boards simply can’t match. Surprisingly, even Dook fans agree with that assessment.Last edited by Chairface1; 10-05-2006, 01:27 PM.Comment
