    Slam Dunk Contest

This hasn't been officially announce or anything like that, but DimeMag named participtants for the dunk contest this year. So far the candidates are Richard Jefferson, Desmond Mason, Jason Richardson, and Amare Stoudamire. Once again, it hasn't been announce, but those four have been rumoured.

Sounds promising, hopefully this will be confirmed. I already think Jefferson, if he participates, will win this thing.

Seriously, that wheel was such a bad idea. It's pretty pointless. Just let the players do what they want, not go back to other dunks. The new guys have such creativity and athletic ability. It should be better this year. Too bad the really big names don't go out and do it. I guess they're too good for that.

[censored] that line up sucks, i mean those guys can dunk but they don't bring nothing new and creative, i was hoping kobe would be in it, i heard a lot of rumors about dunks that kobe has and only a couple of people saw, by the way i saw AMARI in a high school slam dunk on espn, he's pretty good for a big man.

I can see why the big name players don't do it now-a-days.
They get critisized and get a bad rep because when they actually do good, a lot of people and players just think of them as showoffs.

It's a no win situation in the world today.

This contest is like a tradtional part of the game weekend. In the 80's, and early 90's all of the big stars would enter and compete. This hurts all star weekend a bit when you have all but one no name players missing dunks done 10 years ago, and the league considers cutting the contest every year.

No kidding... were there any better dunk contests than the Wilkens/Jordan ones?

I think guys could be more creative, instead of trying to mimic Rex Chapman dunks in every round, and if Kobe had that much new stuff, then he should enter, instead of worrying about his rep, like it matters what people say to him, and help the game out if possible, which is something his idol didn't mind risking.

Jefferson already said that he is in it this year. I don't think he'll win though.

KDRE, It's way too comericialized on today's standards. Years/Decades ago, they just had it as the SLAM DUNK CONTEST. Only until recent years, everything has be named something and the companies are cashing in on these big "celebrity basketball players" Sure they get a bonus for entering I assume, but if I were a superstar I wouldn't want these companies relying on me to perform, just because there in debt with the naming rights to the AS events.

Too much pressure now-a-days, for those big time players in an event that should be fun. But turns out even more stressful. I'd take a 4 day break anyday over showing off. But thats just me. The younger ones make a name for themselves for years to come in these events so it's good for them.

True that. 2ball is such a joke. I think the L is just trying to come up with new and refreshing ideas for All-Star weekend, just so they could make more money. Instead, they have come up with bad things that waste time. I don't like it.
