is it me or has the nba started off really competitive?

I haven't been a big fan of the nba the past season and this season I'm trying not to get too seriously into it. However I have noticed that almost every team has been playing really well so far this opening week with upsets left and right and confusing victories.

You have Rockets losing to the Jazz and Jazz all the sudden undefeated with a healthy roster. You have the lakers somehow winning against the suns without kobe. You have the cavs beating spurs, then cavs losing to bobcats, what in the world? Then you have the ultimate, bulls destroying the heat by 42 pts and all the sudden they lose two straight to teams that may be surprising this year. And then you have the mavs going 0-2, and rockets demolishing them. Bucks beating pistons then losing the raptors.

so far opening week has been surprising. Let's see how all these teams play throughout the next couple of months

Yeah, it's been a great opening week... first season to be reminiscent with the seasons in Jordan's era.

The playoffs are just spilling over into the season. Though my Bulls haven't been too glorius the last two games, what a way to step out. Every game seems like it can go either way. The Hawks look good, Raptors look good, all the "weaker" teams have stepped up. It's still early too. Can't wait until the season starts to really ripen.

The NBA looks really fun so far this season. I think it's obvious that LeBron, Dwyane, Carmelo, Dwight Howard and Chris Paul are all stars, and I would love for everyone to stay where they are and turn them all into playoff teams.

So far so good for the NBA.

This is the most excited I've been about the NBA since the start of the '97-'98 season.

I'm honestly pleasantly surprised with the way Philly plays defense and Korver's form. I hope for an exciting season. Any Sixers fans here?

One thing I certainly notice from watching a lot of NBA games this season is that teams are making a concerted effort toward pushing the basketball up the court as much as possible for easy buckets. Even teams that are known to walk the ball up the court for almost every possession like the Jazz and Pacers are running more frequently. Although teams like the Sonics and Nuggets always had been pushing the ball up and down the court over the years, it's the Suns who has successfully revitalized the up-tempo game and has made it vogue again to run throughout the league.

Also, teams have been frequently putting a lot of small lineups on the court. I've seen quite a bit of 3-guards lineups for just about every team during some point of a game.

And teams are also playing more zone defenses than before. Mostly 2-3 and 3-2.
