    Lakers new lights to stay!

I liked the look when they played the Suns...I'm glad they're keeping it.

This should hit every venue in the NBA. Might bring about some great appeal to the game. I liked how it looked. I wonder if any other stadiums might follow in making changes like this. It looked real nice to see the court so well-lit for the game keeping the fans as spectators instead of as part of the "show".

Its moreso needed in LA than anything with the vanity that people get caught up in with teh celebs and all. Thats annoying watching the cameras pan away from the game while its goign on to show diane cannon and jack sit there watching the game

I dont think any more teams will adopt this though as it takes the audience out of the game and the crowd brings atmosphere to the game.

when i go to games, i go to watch. i dont need someone showing me how to spend my money. lol

        i guess some do.

not a bad move if its liked by everyone. No more reading your book or media guides or even seeing who your seating next to... I found that challengings sitting upperdeck at arenas. now the whole arena will have that upper deck atmosphere.

^^Agreed. I honestly don't like the new look. Like Kdre said, it takes the crowd right out the game.

I like the new lighting. Reminded me of my days going to Sixers games at the Spectrum.

They did that at the Wiz/Celtics game saturday night too. Its not like the crowd is completely blacked out, its just dimmer.

It's just like if you are at an opera house or somewhere like that. Your eyes are focused on where the most light is. I can't see how it can take the crowd out when they're probably more focused on the games. That's the main reason they're doing it right? I wouldn't see a big reason for them to be doing it in Chicago, Toronto or any other places like that, but it could bring more attention to the game for those who might have a hard time concentrating due to the other things going on around that could distract them. I don't know if it takes the crowd out but I definitely have to see a few more games so that I can observe for myself.

I disagree. MSG has been doing this for years and they have one of the liveliest crowds in all of sports. Actually in the two home Laker games that Ive watched this year, the crowd has been way more into the game than in years past. It forces them to watch the game and not Leo, Denzel or Jack.

Im saying it was good because they wont focus so much on attention grubbing celebs like Jack.

At the same time the atmosphere is a bit toned down on my television becasue there is no crowd. Don't tell me they dont matter at all.

You mean atmosphere in terms of, you can't see them standing or cheering?

All I know is, the crowd has seemed way louder just because they are forced to pay attention to the court.

Crowd only matters when it comes to sound. Are you telling me that for years every game at MSG has had toned down atmosphere when it comes across on TV?

Also, lets not act like you cant see the crowd. The arena isnt movie theatre dark...just dimmed.

One diminishing sense raises the level of another I know.

I like and dislike it, all im saying, for the obvious reasons.

I really liked it... it really put the players on stage. It looked like a play-performance, but instead, it's a fast-paced basketball game.

I really like the look, and hope it's adopted league-wide.
