check espn classic and what the old knics backcourts go for like 50- or jerry west put up 44 without forcing a shot. to say the league is watered down is an understatement. Basketball players have been replaced by the most athletic individuals to ever play the game, the only problem is the games suck cause very few actually understand the game. add to this the leagues issues with trying to fix something that was never broke (with all the rule changes) instead of finding a way to cultivate better basketball players, instead of ballers.
i blame the entire thing on expansion. if we took the current talent pool and reduced the number of teams by getting rid of miami, memphis, neworleans, orlando, minnesota and then spread the talent across the rest of the teams in the league, you would have a much much better product than you do right now.
in that situation there is no way high schools "kids" even get considered to be drafted. no way ... totally eliminates that problem and reinstates the "elite" status the nba once enjoyed. with so few teams you would have potential stars sacrificing their games to play a role, which is what you had in the great days of the nba. instead of what you have now which is role players playing a role.
the difference is in a tight game where stars either cancel each other out or are having a bad game who pass the rock to a james worthy as opposed to a rick fox. this also keep the number of guys leaving college to those few who can really play and everyone else stays to get a better understand of the game and to allow their bodies to mature.
just my opinion but i think it's validCatch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: Dajuan Wagner the next AI?
alot of very good points in this thread. those stats though, don't look anything alike. for a good reason, my guess is that John Lucas made sure that Wagner was learning the PG spot. to think about it, with a team that has Ricky Davis, Ilgauskas as the first two options and than they are getting the ball to Boozer more. add that you have Miles.
when Iverson came in, the Sixers coach was Johnny Davis. Lucas is a better coach by far than Davis. Davis just let Iverson do whatever he wanted out their, while Maurice Cheeks tried coaching him the PG spot. but AI still had free reins. plus AI went to the basket because that's how he got alot of his shots. Larry Brown came in the next year and saw that Iverson is really a true SG.
so with Wagner, he doesn't have free reins but eventually somebody will have him and make him the SG. he played at Camden High right across the bridge and he was a pure scorer. big scorer. hell, Wagner was like Iverson's little brother. they hung out sometimes. i'm sure AI taught him some things. point guard is NOT his position. he's 6'3" 200lbs. and solidly built. he can be a SG in this league and someone will do that for him. he can slash to the basket, dunk, get off the jump shot...all that. i think if he was given the team and became the prime scorer, he would be at 18-20 points right now. maybe Smart, who replaced Lucas, will change things around. because right now, they are wasting him.Comment

Re: Dajuan Wagner the next AI?
Samuel you are right on point, excellent observation except for the high schoolers not making it. I think these young fellas gain more knowledge by making the jump. Kwame will learn more by practicing and playing with MJ and Stack for 2 years than he would have in any college for 2 years ( the average stay for elite players). Name the top 20 in the league and at least 6 or 7 are highschoolers. But I agree with you WHOLEHEARTEDLY about expansion. AND the problem's getting worse. At least one more team on the wayHank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment
