I hate how this guy is only "suspended indefinitely".

Throw him in freakin' jail for a few years.

        Re: Another Violent Act.......

        That's horrible.

Last year, I'm not proud to admit, I absolutely smashed a guy. It was at a football game...he got an older man in a head lock and the old fella was going red...I lost control, would up and hit him a few times.

The guy split open like a water melon...blood everywhere...and fell down.

And I've got to tell you, I almost $hitted myself thinking "oh f.ck, if he's dead...i am in serious, serious trouble here".

Thankfully he got up...the police came over...and, luckily for me, the people around explained that the other guy started it all and had the old man in trouble. One lady nearby was kind enough to say I actually "saved the old guys life" (BIG exaggeration...but i'm glad she said it!). So...the police took the other guy and gave me a warning.

I guess what I am saying is...there's normally a background to these things and none of us know what happened.

I studied law at University and one of the things we learnt was the "egg shell theory". I.e. you are responsible for what happens to the victim / not necessarily how hard or how often you hit someone. I.e. if you hit someone ONCE and they've a skull like an 'egg shell' that cracks open and they die...

You're in more trouble than the guy who hits someone TWENTY times...but the guy he hits isn't injured.

One punch can see you in a hell of a lot of trouble. If this guy dies, the other guys going down for most of his life.

I'll sound VERY old saying this... but any young guys on here who are a bit hot tempered would do well to remember all this...

after one of my flag football games (of all things) last year some guys on the other team made a run at my boy while we we're shaking hands. i was right there and a dude came running in and i just reacted and got him, kermit on rudy t. style. it didn't feel good at all but it was in self defense so what could i do? dude was knocked out but not really hurt bad. i didn't get into any trouble because as i said it was basically in self defense. you do have to know an entire situation though. i read the story in the sun times i think it was, and it said he approached storey after they had words and storey hit him. i do know that if you are having "words" with someone and they get to within striking distance of you and you hit them, you do have a good chance of pleading that the guy got real close and you felt threatened and reacted. same thing happened to a friend in high school, quiet dude, guy was picking at him, got right up on him and he knocked dude out cold. guys head hit the ground, coma, the whole 9. enough people saw what happened and the judge said he was just defending himself when the guy got too close in a threatening manner.

"Words" is no defense at all.

If they were severely racial...or severely personal...they 'might' downfrade things.

If it's simply that these two argued over something trivial like a ball game or a girl...things got heated...then the guy who hit him is in serious, serious trouble due to the other guys injuries.

That's what people don't understand. It's not what you do...it's how it affects the person you did it to.

If you hit one person once...maybe not even hard...but they fall and die...

You're in a world of trouble with the law. Doesn't matter if it was "only" one punch / not hard. It's the 'result'.

If you hit a thick necked guy with a head like a bull...20 times...and he just smiles and says "is that all you've got?"...you're generally in no trouble (except that that guys likely to kill you himself )

The whole situation doesn't seem too right. Not sure how the Andrew kid is but while on a court, I'm sure that Storey wasn't threatened. Of course, the whole situation isn't solid enough to know what happened. I don't see any reason why one player should get into a physical fist fight with another player on the court no matter what. Of course, I have a very solid temper and really learned the "walk away" technique at a young age. I let everything slide off my shoulders. I just don't understand how dudes who are in situations when they could be scooped up at any time and are watched by fans could lose control like that. It's almost too crazy to fathom in my mind. By the way, that's real cool of you Court, helping that older man out. Man, I'm slowly figuring that a lot of you guys on these boards are some solidly huge guys with pints of testosterone in reserves. I need to hit the weights.......

I think alot of players get a slap on the wrist considering their background or "tough" upbringing. The guy sucker punched the other guy, that's just crap, it ain't thugish it's just purely being a *****. People wonder why the word thug comes up though, well it's not hard to understand when guys from the hood can't leave the "ghetto" at the gym door and want to get over fights with their own teammates during practice. You can label me a racist if it makes you feel better about what I've written though it would be mistaken, all I know is that where I grew up a farm town in Michigan, we fought 1 on 1, no groups of people jumping one guy, but I've also been down in Grand Rapids and watched, on more than one occasion BTW, a group of city kids beat the living crap outta a single guy just cause he was showing one of their teammates up on the court. And I don't believe it's a black or a white thing, think it's more of an inner city thing,
why get into a fight cause someone's better than you on the court? It's dumb. But why do NBA players get labled thugs, not because they're black, no but because they're from the inner city and they just don't know how to function in a civilized manner. Just my .02

I am nowhere near huge. I'm pretty fit, but not Arnold Schwargenager.

And you don't need to be big to throw a good punch...I've seen 70 kilo guys KO 100 kilo guys in a boxing gym several times

On this same subject, James Posey went at a Bulls player maliciously for the 3rd time in the past 2 years. I don't know when the League is going to step in on the matter, but he deserves suspension for shenanigans he has pulled against the Bulls.

Well, for those who wanted justice, looks like the guy is done with the team. Was terminated.

                          Awvee Storey TERMINATED!!

Just hope that he has something to fall back on besides ball. Probably will be hard to get back into basketball with that black mark on his resume`. Wonder how M.A. is doing now.

Agreed. I freaking hate Posey. Took out Thomas twice in the first game of the season.

As far as Storey... he should be in jail!
