Wait, did Stern seriously go as far as saying Allen Iverson shall be killed, lose his life and see him in the coffins? I thought Stern was only concerned about Iverson not succeeding in the league, being out of the league or have his image put on the shelf.

The problem is that half of these guys want to be SEEN as thugs. They want to represent their heritage.
Think about it, you throw very young, rich guys money, and they come from an black, urban society and how are they going to act? Well, since they're young, they don't know HOW to act so they're going to act young, selfish, flamboyant.
And why not? I would too... but guess what, these guys are in the spotlight, people see them EVERY DAY. EVERY MOVE THEY MAKE is followed. Unfortunately, everything they say and do will follow them for years to come.
Then what happens? They grow up. Problem is, they're still treated like wannabees by too many people, including the media, always pushing and probing. They try to hang out with their old crew but then they get into trouble... the old crew hangs out in areas that rich ballers shouldn't be. Soon people are taking advantage of who they see... let's start a fight with a guy who makes millions... etc, etc. Now they're back to thug status again.
Tell about your 20s guys... come on now. Are all of you computer nerds? How many of you are partying it up, smokin some dope, drinkin too much, clubbin, etc? That's what early 20s are like for MANY. Shoot, myself included....
Again, we hold these guys to a different standard because they're in the eyes of millions. In some ways I really think they'd learn, but in other ways, I wish people would leave them alone. I personally know people who play minor league basketball, play ball overseas for a ton of money, etc, and it's tough for them at times, but better because not as many people know who they are. They can walk in a club, have fun, and not have the press all over them."Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation." - Michael Jordan, 2006Comment
