Do people read the links in these threads? The trade had to happen ASAP - the only thing allowing this to go through is a injury exception the Bucks had for Simmons lost season, which expires tomorrow.
Boykins was expendable - with AI, Smith & Melo he wasn't going to get his shots. If he's not scoring he's a liability on the floor. Blake is a dependable, hard-working backup PG. He can distribute the ball, hit an occasional shot and draw a charge or get a loose ball.
Boykins also has an opt-out option at the end of the season, and Denver would not be able to keep him if he chose free agency. They save the cap space, get a bench guy who's actually a PG as opposed to the littlest SG in the NBA.
The Bucks get a scorer, which with their decimated lineup is essential. If he stays or leaves at the end of the year is probably irrelevant, as I don't see him as a long-term option for them. But he might be able to keep them afloat for a lower seed playoff spot as they wait for Villenueva and Redd to heal.
I don't see Hodge sticking around, but you never know - they don't have any defensive stalwarts on the Bucks so if he can latch on in that role he might have found a home. He didn't seem have any place in Denver's plans whether he reached a full recovery or not.
