Re: The Mavs are NOT a deep team
Nash didnt win the two consecutive MVPs because of stats anyway. He won them mainly because of wins.Last edited by ZB9; 03-09-2007, 09:16 PM.Comment

Re: The Mavs are NOT a deep team
I have said this for the longest time and I am glad at least one person does not suffer from groupthink and can truly see the picture that is so clear in the front of them......The Mavs simply are not a deep team and full of talent. Dirk makes them an unbelievable team and makes everyone around him better.Comment

Re: The Mavs are NOT a deep team
Very serious. I dont know how you can even question that Dirk is the MVP at this point of the season. Everyone from ESPN to TNT is saying the same thing. Can that change by April? Sure, but thats not what was being discussed.
You need a reality check if you think Dirk the only MVP candidate. He is not even the frontrunner Nash is.
and why should dirk be the mvp of the league? Does he do anything besides be so tall and lanky that you can't bother his shot?
Back to back MVP having a better season then his previous MVP seasons. Not to mention his 53% FG percentage for a PG is amazing.
Its also amazing that Dirk can hit 40% clip on 3's for a 7-footer, but that wont win him MVP.<!-- / message -->Comment

Re: The Mavs are NOT a deep team
To pull this back on topic:
Just because the Mavs don't have a bunch of Superstars that doesn't mean they aren't a deep team. Josh Howard is coming into his own as a big name player in this league as well. Jason Terry was solid in Atlanta but the Hawks were horrible so he never got any recognition. Damp and Diop aren't putting up amazing numbers but they are solid on the defensive end and at rebounding, things I would rather have a center do anyways. Devin Harris is improving and just because he doesn't put up 12 assists per game like Steve Nash doesn't mean he's a bad point guard. Devean George and Buckner are great defenders who can knock down the three and George has proven he is a solid scorer. Croshere has been getting even more playing time recently and he has stepped up.
Try to match up any other team with what I just mentioned. The only team that can realistically take the Mavs on in depth are the Suns. Depth doesn't have to be 2-3 superstars and other very well known players, depth can be 1 superstar, 1 allstar, and some solid players surrounding them. I would definitely rather have that then some of the 3 superstars and all crap players some teams have.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide
