Is Chauncey really considering leaving DET?
Im not up on the story with a great deal of inside information, but just the way the story is presented, Billups is looking into leaving Detroit in free agency.

Re: Is Chauncey really considering leaving DET?
Earlier this week Chauncey Billups did comment about Grizzlies' cap room and need for a point guard in an article form the Commercial Appeal.com. Billups doesn't say he's leaving Detroit, but he hasn't shot down any of the rumors either. I think he's just playing the fence now so to keep all his options open, and also keep every other teams' interest in him high so his market value stays up. No one would want him as much if he was to come right out and say he's re-signing with the Pistons before the season plays out.

Oh, you might be referring to this article from the Denver Post on him considering the Nuggets.
At any rate, I just think he's giving all the politically correct answers without tipping his hand as to what he's really going to do.

Re: Is Chauncey really considering leaving DET?
Billups should just shut up and play.
He sounds like a cheap whore telling every city he's been in this week that he'll play there...
It's pretty clear that he's going to whoever offers the MOST $.
Simple as that.
This is a guy who was a journeyman until Joe D showed faith and gave him a team to run. He's won a ring, became an All Star...
Man, at least give Joe D some respect and let him table an offer...
It's not like Joe isn't going to pay him.
STFU and play out the season.Comment

Re: Is Chauncey really considering leaving DET?
I'm by no means a Pistons fan, but I see it as the opposite. He won a ring, represented Detroit as an All-Star, led them to multiple conference/NBA finals, and has been their leader through thick and thin, coaching changes, what have you. Yeah, Joe D gave him his shot, but as far as I'm concerned, he owes the city of Detroit nothing. They owe him for all that he's done for that team, and he should get paid properly for it. If Detroit feels otherwise than they can let him slide (ala Ben Wallace). However, if they want to pay the man his proper respects (literally), then their shouldnt be a problem.
I think Billups is just trying to up his price, and unless he goes asking for crazy money, Detroit should pay him whatever he wants. He should be the franchise guy there, he runs that team and is the MVP there.Comment
