The 8th and final playoff spot in the East...

    I'm calling it now.

    They are 4 1/2 back.

    The Sixers will get it.

More importantly, reduces the chances of Oden winding up in the Atlantic.

As soon as Okafor gets back on the floor I seriously think the Bobcats could get that 8th spot.

The Sixers and Phillies have mastered the art of playing well enough to simultaneously eliminate themselves from the playoffs and a top draft pick. No one does it better, and for the Sixers, this year is no exception.

If they keep it up, Sixers could lose their own pick.

I just hope the Celtics end up with more losses than the grizz. I can smell Oden.

I'm guessing that it was part of a trade they made and their first rounder was lottery protected. If they make the playoffs they won't be in the lottery and will lose the pick.

Just one big guess on my part.

If I remembered correctly, the Sixers can make the playoffs and still have their pick...but if the pick is lower than the 15th spot (16, 17, etc.), they lose it.

Anyone remember when Steve Francis was traded from Orlando, then Orlando went on that run to make the playoffs, but didnt make it. Philly will be the same way. And then this offseason Philly will be the "surprise" team for next year, despite the fact they arent talented enough to make the playoffs.

Hopefully Philly management doesnt think that this team will sneak up on people next season, they need upgrades.

Oh but alot of Philly fans and beat writers say we should cheer for them to win so they can develop the psyche of winning in the future!

Im not saying dont cheer, Im saying Philly still needs a PF and probably a SF to become a legit playoff team. They are gonna be lucky to make the playoffs in the future with their current squad. Though if I was a fan of Philly, Id much rather see him suck and get a better draft pick.
