woudl you like it if game developers...

I was thinking yesterday, and it occured to me that I get so sick of getting into a franchise on, say, NBA 2K3 and knowing that once I've got it all set and tweaked just right, another game isn't that far from being released.

I dunno, I was wondering how you guys would feel if developers decided to only released sports games, maybe every 2 years?

That is, if the product out now was good enough to last in gameplay, and they provided roster updates. I mean, NBA 2K3, for example...is just about perfect with a little modification to Arenas' sliders...and I get annoyed at having to play only a 28 game season, or low mins per half just to get a decent amount of years done before another game comes out.

All, when I believe 2K3 is good enough to last another year with a few little tweaks by Sega. Perhaps if 2K4 improved an these things, this could be a possibility.

It would mean we can play longer dynasties, and most importantly, it gives developers longer to make the next game trully better.

I mean, how long are we going to have basketball games that are ALMOST perfect, due to the common excuse of 'it was rushed'?

It would give them time to implement better features, such as a full all-star weekend, in-game saves, better overall gameplay etc etc.

What do you think? Would you be prepares to wait, and would the long time yeild much better games?

Sometimes it would do me good... only if it's a good game like NBA 2K3 because I want to get deep...

but with a game like NCAA College Basketball 2K3... it has so many glitches that I can't wait until the next one is released so I could have a better experience it... it would be awful waiting 2 yrs. for that.

Also the Game Company's would never do that... because they make such a big profit in one year... they wouldn't stop making titles for the public... they are interested in making their own money any way possible.

Also... Roster Updates would be an issue... uniform updates... arena updates... and rookie updates (wouldn't be fair to the Rookies to not be in the game!)

The problem is who decides it's close to perfect? You HAVE to assume the designers are pretty satisfied with everything they release. Should they wait for us to tell them whether they should start working on the next release or not, and think of how that would push them back in getting everything done if they did do that.

Not to mention the amount of money they would lose doing this but the question was if WE would like that so that's not a problem for us so it doesn't matter.

i would like game developers to TEST THE GAMES PRIOR TO RELEASE....
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I think, if you look at buying trends, you have your answer: no.

Nobody is forcing people to buy the newest release. I do know people who only buy Madden every few years, since they believe that the small changes don't warrant a yearly purchase. If a majority of people did think that way, the companies would only release games every few years.

If they weren't selling, they wouldn't be made. Personally, I like geting new games each year. It's part of the tradition, now.
