Big al - "legitimately just might be the most underrated player in the league,"

Al Jefferson legitimately just might be the most underrated player in the league. The 6-10, 256 pound forward-center was taking high school algebra three years ago but now the numbers that surround him are all good: 15.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
    Thoughts?

Makes me wonder when Boston will start winning.

No doubt they're trying to tank it.

That team is WAAAAAAAAY too talented to be doing as poorly as they are. If PP wouldn't have gone down with "injuries", this team is a lower tier playoff team. Franchise player in Pierce and some strong support Jefferson, Green at times, West and Rondo.

I think it's true but I'm a Celtics fan and I watch him every game so of course I'm gonna think he's underrated. But here are some stats since the All-Star break

        Code:
        Al Jefferson - 11 games 20.3 ppg 13.3 rpg 1.64 bpg

        Dwight Howard - 11 games 19.3 ppg 12.7 rpg 2.00 bpg

        Elton Brand - 9 games 17.3 ppg 9.7 rpg 2.33 bpg

        Jermaine O'Neal - 8 games 18.9 ppg 8.8 rpg 2.25 bpg

        Pau Gasol - 10 games 22.1 ppg 10.5 rpg 1.80 bpg

        Amare Stoudemire - 10 games 24.2 ppg 11.8 rpg 1.30 bpg

        Chris Bosh - 9 games 20.1 ppg 8.6 rpg 2.11 bpg

        Carlos Boozer - 9 games 14.9 ppg 10.8 rpg 0.22 bpg

        Tim Duncan - 10 games 18.3 ppg 10.6 rpg 2.40 bpg
So for the little attention Big Al gets he puts up numbers that are the same as some very good players. Hopefully more people begin to realize this. I don't think I have ever seen anyone improve as much in one season as Big Al has this year, its pretty remarkable.

He didn't look too good yesterday, but I'm sure he'll kill the Bulls tomorrow.

No one looked good. Pierce had 8 points, team played somewhat like garbage. But, the young guns looked alright. (Disregarding Big Al)

Luol does a really good job guarding Pierce. In past games between the Bulls and Celts, it's been Wally who has punished them. It's a good thing for the Bulls that he's hurt.

Side note: Did any of you Celts fans like those jerseys they wore yesterday? I thought they looked bad. Hopefully the Bulls don't wear those horrendous green jerseys that they wore around this time last year.

I think they're ok. Tomorrow the Bulls are gonna wear them and the Celts aren't.

I don't know if he's underrated but Love to see him do his thing. It's becoming a scarce thing to see a big man develop inside nowadays.

Big Al dominated in highschool and it seems its translating over to the league despite Ainge

He averaged 42 points in high school, and he's definetly underrated. Wasn't even on the all-star ballot.

He's starting to put up numbers like KG.

I remember what he averaged in HS. I think the team he's on has caused some of the lack of attention. That and Ainge of course.

This is what a future star looks like, not that gump in LA that their management calls their future.

                            Hey Ainge isn't coaching him.

Anyway I think Ainge hiring Clifford Ray had a lot to do with this

Now if they just got rid of Doc...and add another big man, this team could have a nice future.

Pierce isn't getting any younger, but he's still not that old, and he's still producing. Plus, he hasn't really caused any off-the-field problems or anything, so that's another plus.

Gomes, and the plethora of younger guards (could still use a solid PG, because the West, Ray, Rondo, Telfair combo just doesn't give the team one of those) along with Perkins and Green give the Celtics a good group of role-players. An Oden, or Durant would be a big addition to this club, especially if they panned out as well as they could.
