The AI is so stupid!

I really want to like 2K3...I really do. Actually, I do like it, but I can't play a season because of how bad the AI is, offensively and defensively. I mean, on any given possession, I can either call for a pick and blow by the D or just give it to a guy who is faster than his defender and run around until I get past him. The Help D is so slow to react and out of position anyways...the game is way too easy.

Defensively, I see a guy coming to set a pick so I cheat to the pick, knowing that the ballhandler is going to use the pick. Why can't the ballhandler see that I'm cheating and make me pay by going the other way?? I can leave my man wide open and he won't see the rock. Clear a lane to the basket and you basically have to beg for the guy to drive the lane.

Man, I really do like this game, but it needs some improvement. The presentation is amazing so it's got so much potential. I know ID has good AI, but it lacks in many other areas so I gotta stick with 2K3. I've tried all the sliders possible and nothing solves these fundamental flaws...arghhhhhhhh

dave, i dont have any of those problems. the PG wqill drive on my everytime if i dotn play D.

so true man, after a few weeks of playing 2K3, it's gotten to the point where i'm just sick and tired of playing the game... i can't believe all these sites rated this game higher than a 9, the problem is that its so scripted, the AI can't react to what is going on

That's the key word, scripted.

I am a bit like Dave. I really wanted to love this game. I was so pumped for it and the first few games were amazing. Then the holes started to appear and boy does it suck pretty badly.
I can leave Walker open at the top of the key because THAT play called for PF to give to C...it's horrible.

Not only because it's scripted, but because there are so few plays. Look at the shot chart at games end and you'll see VERY few three's ever attempted from the corner pockets. There's no plays designed for something as simple as that.

Seriously, it pains me to criticise this game...but what else can we do except tell the truth?

The presenation is so good / groundbreaking that I hope like hell they come back with some decent AI in 2K4 because I want to buy it and play a season.

Unlike previous years though, I'll be waiting next time to see if it's any good and not trusting reviews.

90 + is ridiculous for a game this flawed.

Scripted is exactly the word I would have used if I had thought of it. Anyways, check out my "Nasty Sliders"...they do make the game more enjoyable, but there's no way to get the AI to use actual defense to shut you down so it's a bit of a gimmick, but not a bad one.

i hear ya, this game is unplayable for me now. it is way to easy to score no matter what sliders i use.
