    Re: Dirk vs Bird

    Ridiculous comparison.

No player in the history of the league does what Dirk does at 7-foot-tall.

    Bird was.....Bird. Incredible.

The two are completely different kinds of players. The fact that they're both blonde white guys is irrelevent (though we all know that's the reason for the comparison).

This is like comparing Jordan to Wilt.

Comparing a SG to a C is different from comparing a SF to a PF. Dirk clearly took a lot of his game from Larry so it's not wrong to compare their games at all. The fact that you used MJ to Wilt as an analogy to Bird and Dirk is hysterical to me. Dirk isn't even a top 5 player of his generation.

        Overall, Bird > Dirk.
No way Dirk is a better rebounder or more athletic than Bird. Even with an insanely bad back in his last season, Bird averaged .3 rebounds less than Dirk's best total.

Right now maybe, but I put KG and Duncan better than him and that's just considering PFs.

i disagree. there is no way that KG is better than Dirk right now.

Have you seen many Mavs games this year or last year?

It's hard to judge KG now but for their career, KG is better in my opinion. I don't think the Mavs would have much of a drop off if any at all with KG instead of Dirk. What would Dirk do with Ricky Davis shooting nonstop?

                  3-pointers made:

                  Dirk 65
                  KG 10
                  Duncan 0

To call Dirk a power forward does not adequately describe his brilliance. How many 7-footers have ever played that could light it up from 3-point range AND take it to the rack?

What's it matter that he's 7 feet? Larry Bird is listed at 3 inches shorter and had a better post game than Dirk and is a better three point shooter.

I don't think anyone here is saying Dirk is better than Larry Bird. C'mon, that's nuts.

Better than KG and Duncan? Right now, yes.

Seriously, why does it matter that he's 7 feet? The only reason extremely tall players don't shoot three's that often is that they're taught that they should be in the post. Being that tall actually gives him an advantage since he can see over most of the people guarding him. It's not like him being 7 feet hinders his ability to shoot.

Dirk's career three point % is actually a tiny bit better than Bird's.

Well his career hasn't ended yet, so maybe by the time it ends it will be worse.
