How can you compare a rook to a guy who has been in the league for six years? He better be putting up better stats than a guy who is lucky to get 20 minutes of PT a game.

Tyrus's stats may not be all that impressive, but the energy and fire he brings to the team really help them out in certain situations.

I'm not a huge Curry fan but I'll be perfectly content with the trade as long as the Knicks aren't #1 in the lottery.

Curry is part of a very small group of NBA centers that are elite scorers. The problem was, he started getting double-triple teamed at the end of the year after Crawford went down. Without perimeter shooters, those double and triple teams are damn effective at shutting Curry down.

He did a damn good job this year. Sure, his rebounding could be a lot better but it wasn't atrocious by any means.

So does the Knicks' 20th pick last year Renaldo Balkman.

People make too much of the Curry trade as if the Knicks lost out somehow. We got a franchise, all-star caliber center last year and got a lottery pick this year in Morris.

To say that the Bulls got over in the trade is ridiculous. That's why they've been dying to get a scoring big man all season long.

I think I understand what your saying. Eddy IMO is a great player whom scores snd blocks shots, but he is not someone to give morale to the team, to make other players worry about their reputation. I've watched a couple og games and no player wants to get blocked by Thomas so the number of J's go way up. They've seen what he is capable of and are therefore more intimidated.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was getting at. I can picture Tyrus as a guy like Kenyon Martin back when he was with the Nets, only being a stud on the defensive end as well. If Tyrus can develop any kind of low-post game this winter, him and Big Ben will be SCARY down low.

              Per 48 Minutes

              Tyrus Thomas ... 18.8 pts, 48.4% fg, 5.2 ft's, 13.2 reb, 3.9 blk, 2.3 stl, 24.76 EFF

              Eddy Curry ... 26.3 pts, 57.6% fg, 6.8 ft's, 9.6 reb, 0.7 blk, 0.6 stl, 22.00 EFF

I'd say Thomas is a bit better as far as these stats go. Curry is the better scorer though.

Although I am not a fan of either player, I don't agree with the Per 48 minute stat comparison.

Lets also throw into the mix the fact that Curry is going up against front line players for the most part, while Tyrus is a 2nd unit player.

Not to take away from Thomas, but its easier to be effective/efficient against a 2nd unit.

If we could do this trade over and over again, I'll take Eddy Curry.
The need for a bigman has been apparent ever since Ewing left us.

I see it's possible for 4th-worst, but I'm not counting on it. If the Knicks get 5th-worst, my eyes will be glued to the Lottery.

And I'm also just as okay if the lottery would send us with the #2 pick.

As for the Suns-Hawks, now I can see why the partial owner in Atlanta at the time decided to give up his portion. lol
I all acuality, Belkin contract was illegal voided and now he is in court and about to become full owner of the team, basically a sticky sitution... Memphis is also having ownership problems. But the Hawks trade was probably one of the worst ever. Especailly if who Pho. draft is a stud.

Re: You just know the Knicks are going to get the number one pick...

                      To clarify fellas:

I am NOT debating the trade...

                      What I am saying is:

IT has done a decent job IMO...and Curry has improved a tonne...

However, the Knicks just cannot take a break and they just seem almost destined to get the number one pick...

It's almost like fate...that Oden will have a HOF career and every NY journalist for the rest of eternity will be saying "you know, that was the Knicks pick".

The franchise is such a soap opera...it's like the next episode is scripted. "Knicks get number one pick in deepest draft for a decade...but the picks gone already"...

It's almost like Thomas is destined for that as a GM...fairly or unfairly...

If the Knicks had a draft pick they would have a reason to lose the rest of the season. Greg Oden will be a better big man.
