Alternate Theory in 1985 Lottery (YouTube included)

People have always joked about David Stern and the NBA rigging the 1985 Draft Lottery to hand one of the most anticipated college prospects of the decade, Patrick Ewing, to the New York Knicks.

If you watch when the guy puts the fourth envelope into the drum he bangs the envelope on the inside of the drum (watch his hand and its motion change when he gets to the fourth envelope). Then as Stern reaches in to pull out the envelope of the team to receive the first pick (~5:31 mark) you can see a noticeable crease on the corner of the envelope that Stern flips over and eventually picks (which of course is the Knicks).

I'm sucker for a good conspiracy theory and like someone said, this theory is much better than the "frozen envelope" theory. Interesting...

I always thought it was rigged....You know, if Isaiah hadn't given away the Knick's top pick this year I have a feeling we'd have 1985 all over again and the Knicks would draft Oden.

Agreed. The Celts have a real nice uni. and Oden would be a great fit in Boston. Maybe the new Bill Russell.
