if he finally gets past the Spurs, then ya he will probably go on to win the west and it does get thrown out the window. Well see if he can finally get over that hump. The Spurs have owned him going back to his Mavs days.

Letting Dirk get victimized over and over and over again at the basket on the defensive end has been as effective as Nellies D in limiting Dirk, IMO. Every time they take it to Dirks mug gives the Warriors more confidence and swagger. Bad decision.

In the end though, the Warriors won by the margin of a BD halfcourt prayer, a guy who is not a career 50% 3-point shooter. The warriors have to cool off eventually, and the Mavs have to be ready.

And where the hell has the Mavs other All-Star been? If the Mavs supporting guys could knock down some doggone shots, maybe Dirk wouldn't be getting suffocated the way he is. Bottom line though is that Avery needs to get Dirk on the blocks, and his shooters have to hit those kickouts from the inevitable double. It's not like the Mavs are being blown out. I'm not going to call Dirk soft after one bad series (Bill simmons is such a freakin' alarmist who loves to overblow any remotely interesting story) but Dirk better remember that he's still a 7-footer.

That doesn't explain him getting D'd up by Baron Davis on the perimeter one more than on occasion. Same with Haslem, and McGrady... guys 6'8 and under giving him massive fits to the point you don't even recognize he's in the game.

        GS hasn't won anything yet.

Next week we might all be hailing Dirk for going nuts on the Warriors and dropping 30+ a game to win the series.

I mean wasn't it just last year the Lakers were up 3-1 to the Suns, it seemed like the Lakers had the Suns number, but the Suns came back to win the series...so lets not destroy Dirk yet.

Maybe in 2-3 hours though, GS might get it done tonight.

True. No one was blasting Nash, who was in an identical situation down 3-1 last year, but then again, Dirk looks a mess. at least Nash kept his composure and confidence. The Mavs look frustrated, and helpless...and its because of their leaders...Dirk AND Avery. Dirk needs to rise up in just a few spots per game, and they can take care of G.S. I'm not ready to crown the Warriors as a superior team like most who jump at anything/anyone thats hot. The warriors are a few bad looks rimming out instead of in away from being down 3-1, IMO.

Its the same concept we were talking about last night. Getting a perimeter guy out of his rythm...forcing his hand and dictating his looks. GS is making it tough for Dirk to dribble around the perimiter, and making him pull up in spots where he doesn't want to. Great strategy if the other Mavs aren't moving, aren't setting screens, and aren't making the Warriors pay for the mismatch. Again, the team has to be able to help him. If I were Josh Howard, I'd go set a screen for Dirk every time he touches it up top when the offense isn't set.

I can't believe not too long ago someone was comparing Dirk to Larry Bird.

who did that? examples please. No mavs fans on here have done that

He's not in Bird's league, but i will say that Dirk is the best shooting big man SINCE Larry Bird.

I hear you HMC, but some things should never happen. Especially over and over and over.

The flopping on long jumpers for calls stinks of D-Wade in the world games. It's just a disgrace.

True. As I said, Avery should be taking alot more heat. If you and I can see what's going on, Avery certainly should, and the Mavs haven't adjusted very well. Continuing to let him operate at the top is like a coach constantly trying to have his 6'4 PG go and try to post up a 6'10 PF...he's going to lose that matchup 9/10 times. Dirk gets away with floating around the perimeter way too often, and GS is exploiting the fact that he can pretend he's a guard, but he's not one. His flaws (7-footer dribbling skills and weak defense) are really being exposed.

Lol @ Nellie... He's writing the book on how to shut down Nowitzki.

Thoes people are stupid... Nash is Nash. For better or worse, he is not like any player the NBA has ever seen.

But how come whenever someone lays a smack on Dirk, you have to throw Nash's name out there?
