Re: Matt Barnes needs to stop whining
From a players standpoint, the Sixers appear to be a decent team. They overpay for mediocrity over long periods of time and this mediocrity allows players ample opportunity to step in and have a larger role with the team. Looking at Barnes' numbers, he was not one of these players, and thus I likely still consider him a scrub. Even in Golden State, it seems he's only stepped in as a result of others being injured and not starting. Regardless, I suspect he and Cheeks just didn't get along. He probably thought he was better than reality dictated, which would explain his lack of playing time while on the Sixers.Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment

Re: Matt Barnes needs to stop whining
I'm not too familiar with Matt Barnes. I vaguely remember him being a Sixer, but I'm pretty sure I considered him a scrub. Cheeks is certainly a players coach, and thus I'm not really sure what the deal with Barnes is. Maybe they just didn't get along, but I'm not really familiar with him at all.

Dude wasn't saying all this when he was still a scrubini. Now he is a good role player. And that gives him access to call out Maurice Cheeks? LOLComment

Re: Matt Barnes needs to stop whining
The guy asked him to describe his Sixers experience. What was he supposed to say? "I would, but I don't want to offend P2K on the OS message board"?Comment

Re: Matt Barnes needs to stop whining
Was the first question to describe his Sixers experience? Was the first question about his experiences on other teams? Yes or No?Comment

Seems to me it may have been a player problem, not a coach problem.

Re: Matt Barnes needs to stop whining
He specifically pointed out his time in Philly and Maurice Cheeks. And this is the second time he has done this, where he went out of his way to call out Cheeks and his time with the Sixers.
How you don't see that is whining is beyond me.
I know he's everybody's boy now because the Warriors are doing in the playoffs, but wow.
But you're the Philly OS representative, so I know you know more about this than I, so I'll respect your opinion..........Last edited by PlayaHataSupreme; 05-12-2007, 05:49 PM.Favorite Teams:

Re: Matt Barnes needs to stop whining
I suppose it could be interpreted as such by different people, but I, personally, didn't interpret it that way. I interpreted it as him perhaps relieving a little bit more steam that he had built up from his 76ers days.... moments like those could have perhaps shaped him up to who he is today. You know what they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger........

I guess another reason this is bothering me is because he mentions how after his Sixers stint, he went serious in the offseason and now, here he is on Golden State and being a good role player. Why couldn't he have done that here? Sounds like instead of blaming himself, he's using Mo as his scapegoat. So I guess that's why it is bothering me.Comment
